I feel this is why he took less money and bolted on Cleveland and did't come to NY. I think he does not want to end up ringless like Ewing, Barkley, Malone, Stockton.

Playing with Wade and Bosh is his insurance policy and a guarantee of a couple of championships. His image would have been severely tarnished had he never won it all. I cannot think of an NBA player on his level who never won it all.

Cultures and Countries change every so often or every so amount of years... The NBA has definitely changed once again. We now have players planning out their futures together. Not sure if this is good or bad.

It's kind of weak. To collude with other players for a stacked squad is playground stuff. In the end, even if they do win a championship, it'sgonna be a tin cup. You mean to tell me that Bos, Wade and Beasley weren't strong enough to get a ring. Guess not.

I don't think so. If he went to Chicago he was going to a stacked roster that I think would be much better than Miami with LeBron.

The doubt is removed as he has left Cleveland without a ring. Even if he win one or two with Miami he will not be the man.

Screw LeBron. I have more doubts about his character and the type of person he is. He couldn't get it done for the past 7 years. Joining Wade and Bosh in Miami just stacks the deck too much against everyone else. No role model for any child to look up to. All he cares about is himself and him winning. Not competing. Not playing. Not sportsmanship. He lost BIG tonight in the eyes of the basketball fans around the world and I so very much hope he continues to lose! I don't want to see anyone outside of South Florida wearing a LeBron Jersey, or sneakers, or any product he endorses with his name on it. Boycott the Miami games.

Leaving Cleveland through the media was rough and definitely distasteful.

I always thought the only 2 options were Cleveland an NY.

I never thought he would try to take the easiest way out. Shocked he didn't choose Cleveland or us.

With Cleveland he stays loyal and keeps trying to pursue the Championship for the state he grew up in.

With NY (biased fan perhaps) we would have had some potentialy great competition with him, Amare and Gallo against Rose, Noah and Boozer, Bosh and Wade, Dwight, Lewis and Carter, Pierce, Allen and KG. Obviously, that's out the window now.

I am sympathetic towards Cleveland. Imagine we lost Patrick for nothing during his prime? At the same time we have stunk for nearly a decade. I was upset when he chose Miami over us. Choosing Cleveland is obviously understandable, (to me the right choice) but taking the easy way out with Wade and Bosh? Not like Lebron was over the hill at 35 + years old. My first comment was I want OUR TEAM to win a Championship before time has come, before I am old (only 27). We are now nearly guaranteed to not qualify for a championship for another 10 years? I can't see us building a team that can beat a team with Wade and Lebron together.

Thank you - Ewing, Oakley, Harper, Starks, Mason for giving me some of the best basketball of my childhood and showing me what it takes to be a true winner.

I love what the Knicks did getting Randolph, Turiaf, and Azubuike. Aside from the Knicks I am going to root for the Nets, Thunder and Bucks. They are doing things the traditional way and I think they will be rewarded for it.

The reality is that if Andrew Bynum is healthy they can't compete with the Lakers. They will never have enough size and skill up front to compete. Bosh will get eaten alive by that frontline.

There is a chance his image could be even more tarnished now. There's gonna be a segment of the population that is gonna revile this guy. Michael Jordan was hated by opposing fans but always respected. Most legendary players are hated by opposing fans because its so hard to beat them. Lebron will be booed in a few cities for different reasons.

Totally agree VDesai. I think LeBron will feel the backlash and has lost what he holds most dear; his reputation.

Kind of fits into this thread. It will be interesting to see how egos play a role with this Miami team:

Landing LeBron doesn't make Heat a title lock (By Mike Freeman CBSSports.com National Columnist)

They are going to be penciled into the NBA Finals by almost everyone with the same ease of an ATM withdrawal. Penciled in for decades, by some. But if you think LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are locks to win championships, you don't know ego.

James, Wade and Bosh are not the Palm Tree Trio, they are the Three Me-Egos.

This is not a question of whether the team can win. The biggest issue is which will happen first: a championship or an ego-driven breakup.

Having this much talent on one NBA team remains an historical rarity. It's still mostly unknown territory and the truth is -- the real truth -- is the odds of ego dividing the Heat are far higher than the Three Me-Egos winning a title.

This Justice League of Ballers is a younger team with even stronger egos than the Boston Celtics trio of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen or the 1968 Los Angeles Lakers trio of Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor. I don't think Wade will subjugate to James or LeFavre to Wade. Bosh may be Spinderella while Wade and James are Salt and Peppa but his ego will become tender as well.

This is no slam dunk for a dynasty. It's not even a sure thing they win one championship. Ego is the reason why.

The group is no lock. No lock at all. There's no such thing.

Ego is a quick spreading cancer for which science has yet to find a cure. It has ruined empires, caused wars, and turned brother against brother. Ego is one of the most formidable forces in the known universe. It's like gravity or a powerful current; it mercilessly shapes, erodes and transforms the most stubborn of men.

It's destroyed team after team and athlete after athlete. A mix of ego and greed ignited baseball players' chase of hypodermic needles and homers. Ego is why Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson parted ways or Terrell Owens obliterated locker rooms or why Al Davis' Raiders have struggled.

Ego is one reason why it's difficult for Super Bowl teams to repeat, Jose Canseco sold out and Ben Roethlisberger was exposed as a disgusting human being.

Ego is why Kobe put Shaq in an ejection seat and sent him into low orbit. It's A-Rod. It's Tiger Woods chasing tail from coast to coast and thinking he wouldn't get caught. It's Stephon Marbury. It's Brett Favre.

LeFavre has already demonstrated his ego is powered by 1,000 nuclear reactors and in the end, in Miami, he'll be just as radioactive and might attempt to take Wade's team away from him. There's nothing James has done so far to dissuade from that strong possibility.

Just becase these three will be on the court together doesn't mean the titles will happen. This is what the Heat and the team's apologists will say. Wade and James (as well as Bosh to some degree) are close friends. They will keep the egos in check. Sure. Sure they will. What makes anyone think after the LeFavre ESPN Telethon that he'd keep his ego in check?

Don't mention the historically calming influence on veterans of Pat Riley, either. In Riley's heyday, he coached guys that wanted to win at all costs even if it meant subjugating their egos. James isn't that guy. He's more interested in a swollen bank account and hanging with Oprah than the needed grittiness of winning a title.

Magic Johnson had the clutch gene. LeBron James wants to sell jeans.

The Three Me-Egos. That’s what they are.

You think the three will be impossible to beat? You don't know sports. You don't know people. You don't know ego.

There are examples of three greats coming together on one team and one of the best were the 1968-69 Lakers. That season West, Baylor and Chamberlain were on the same squad. They made the NBA Finals but lost to Boston.

The next season, the three greats again went to the NBA Finals and again lost- this time to New York. The three didn't play together again.

So that super trio failed to win a title and they were better than this trio. Far better.

Some will go ahead and schedule the parade in Miami. Feel free. It'll only happen if the egos are checked at the door. They rarely are.

No man is happy without a delusion of some kind. Delusions are as necessary to our happiness as realities- C.N. Bovee

He would had a better chance on the bulls. And i think the bulls can beat them. If we get melo, we can beat them. I say F' Lebron. His image is tarnished, and he will never be THE MAN. He will always be in the shadow of jordan and kobe.

because he cant handle the pressure of taking his own team and winning like great players do. so he would rather ride coattails than man up and take his OWN team and win. first time i aver saw the best player supposedly in the nba want to be "robin" and join someone else's team to win.

Championship banners aren't weak. Rings aren't weak unless you are Brian Scalabrine or Adam Morrison riding deep pine for your bling. If they get the hardware, ain't that the goal, the whole point? I thought all this brand maintenance stuff was why people are killing LeBron. So he weakens "Team LeBron" to play alongside some really talented players, including Wade who has been to the Promised Land already. Isn't that what really matters?
