I was worried about the rumors of Fratello - wasent sure he was the best choice.. so when i heard Lenny Wilkins... Mike and the Mad Dog were happy about it.. so i was like... ok sounds good.. i know hes a legend.. big time name, won championships, ect...

then i started finding out what kind of coach he is

now i am very worried... to me, i felt like the one thing the knicks were lacking, and needed desperately was PASSION.. fire.. desire... heart, tuffness... These are all qualities Don Chaney could not bring out of them due to his personality and style.. this was the main reason i felt he had to go

reading charles oakley calling his practices a joke scares the Sh*t out of me... the last thing we need is someone who is laid back isnt that what we just got rid of? i mean i will wait and see what Lenny can do... i am hopeful, but in my oppinion... this is not the kind of coach our players needed.... but hey.. maybe isiah will ship the softies out of here and he has a bigger plan

who knows... im just a little worried, we need some FIRE

this doen't worry me too much. Marbury is fire through and through and could be a very good leader in that respect.

WIth the old Toronto team Vince was the best player but he was not an outspoken guy. Neither was the coach, that's just a bad combo. The Knicks should not have that worry.

And I wouldn't put too much into what Oak has to say. He grumbles about everything. The coach can only do so much with a team if team's leader is not leading - leading through voice, practice and play. Vince was hurt and I just don't see him as a mentally tough player in the likes of Jordan, Magic, Larry, Zeke.

dont define passion by screaming on the sidelines. Nobody is more passionate about basketball than Lenny. As for Oak, love him but also remember this is the same guy that said 95% of NBA players smoke pot on a weekly basis.

I think the fact that Lenny's practices are more laxed came as a major shock to Oak. He wasn't used to it. So once Carter went down and the team started losing he unjustably blamed Lenny.

From what I recall about that story was that it was 80%, and IMO that really is not that far-fetched an idea at all. It's very believeable.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

It's really hard for me to get "excited" about Lenny Wilkens, but put me im the "Let's wait and see" category. Anything over Chaney is an upgrade and I certainly expect this team to win more games than they did with Chaney.

On the other hand, there are still problems with this roster and more changes are likely. I'm not sure if all the change and uncertainty is a good thing or a bad thing.

Elite...I generally agree with all the feelings you present in this thread. However, I would add that every coach faces each new situation differently, and while Lenny's general demeanor might be the same, his ideas might be what we need. I think their might have been better choices, but I'm ready to see what Lenny will do. He's already talking about defense, which IMO, is the biggest problem with this team right now. Let's see if he makes any changes.

Hey... this whole team is a wait and see. But we went from a team built around McKnee and Houston to a team built around a 26 year old all star PG.
We went from a coach that got his job because the last guy quit to a coach with thats actually in the hall of fame as both a player and a coach.
We went from a GM that only said "we like our team" even though they were playing .333 ball to a GM that said "we are a sick patient" and says we need to get better.

Maybe these moves all turn out bad, but to me its better than hearing "we like our team" loss after loss after loss after loss.

Most of y'all never thought about Lenny as our head coach, most wanted some kick butt coach to come in the garden and light the fire under our roster. I remembered how this team played with frank running the point when we beat Miami twice and Orlando and Memphis. MIAMI and Memphis had a better record than the knicks and those victories gave us all hope and that was without Starbury and Penny. My expectations were high then even with Dice as back up PF, at least he was more athletic than Kurt Thomas. What will happen under Wolkens is Marbury will be all-world but we will gwt out scored by the good teams even team like the no defense playing MAVS Dallas.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
