analyze them in a vacuum. forget any other player that may or may not sign with the team.

do you feel amare is an upgrade over david lee?

take skill, health, age, attitude all into account.

amare is big upgrade over lee

amare is a five-time all-star, has been in the western conference finals 3 or 4 times, has been all NBA 1st team and is one of the most dominant big men in the game.

david lee is a fantastic rebounder and a hard worker.

but amare is a huge upgrade.

Is he a BIIIG upgrade? I don't know, but he's better. He can impose his will on the game, unlike David Lee at this point, and for that reason alone, he's an upgrade.

I wouldn't mind pairing the two together though.

amare has the better resume but you didn't buy his past. you signed him as he is today. so the question is whether amare today is an upgrade over david lee today. his past accomplishments at this point don't really matter b/c there's no telling how he can perform without nash long term and in the spotlight of new york city.

The only reason Amare is not a huge upgrade is because he is not a great rebounder. I think he is a better scorer and has more experience and he is probably even a slightly better defender, but Lee is a far better rebounder. I am glad we got him, but I am not sure he is going to make as big a difference as we hope.

far better rebounder and passer. i am thoroughly lukewarm on this signing.

better deal than lee for a 5 year deal at 15 per?

Amare is a BIG upgrade over David Lee because of ATTITUDE. Who knows, he might break down, but his put-it-in-your-face attitude is a breath of fresh air around these parts. Hopefully, this fire will catch on with the rest of the team.

Big upgrade! Let's not get catch up in the hype of Dlee. He is a bench player on championship team and Amare is a starter, and that should end that talk.

I think you have to factor in the length and dollar amount of the contract when comparing the two. Is Amare at 20mil per a better player than Lee at 12mil per, considering you could add a very good defensive center with the difference of cash...

I doubt that, he's been getting some strong considerations from teams out there, and none see him as some 6 or 7th man off the bench, not at 10 to 12mill per

STAT is a HUGE upgrade!!! Lee was ok. He always got his stats but for sum reason the Knicks still always lost. The difference with amare is his stats are more meaningful and affct the game more. Lee is a really good player but I think gallo is better so I pick gallo as my number 3 guy. And wade as my number 1! Let get em Knicks the dynasty is on it's way I'm losing my mnd over here I dnt give a crap about David lee if amare can get wade or bron down here.

i think both players are very good.

but if you want to bring up playoff stats:

amare's playoff defensive stats...101.98 off the court, 115.60 on.

I can't help to see the irony of David Lee possibly getting replaced by a guy whose nickname is "STAT".

Amare is a huge upgrade when you factor in playoff experience and strength of competition. Also last year was Lee's best which just got him to All Star level. Amare has had more consistently great seasons and you know what he can do in a playoff situation. We still don't know how Lee will do in those situations.

It seems like Amare is ready to lead or at least take a role of responsibility here. Amare is more forceful in games and will help to energize the team and fans with his power game.

He also made McDyess and Duncan look old and slow.

Amare is 5x all star and first/2nd all NBA team year after year. A true IMPACT player and recognized around the league as such. So glad we got him over Bosh.

I love Lee's game and what he's done since getting drafted 30 as a hustle player, but the upgrade isnt even close. Amare is huge and makes the Knicks relevant.

He's the 2nd scorer that you with a star that wins titles. Lebron or Wade needs a guy like this, just like Kobe has always needed Shaq or Gasol.
