I think that second meeting was very important for us. Depending on what you hear (sounds like LeBron wasn't there & we know Donnie wasn't there) but 'Bron's agent, Leon Rose, was and it sounds like he wanted to know one thing -- would we have room for a max contract next summer if LeBron came. I guess the Knicks made the case that they could come damn close (taken from the NY Post):
"Though the Knicks had said during Thursday’s presentation they could add two max free agent this year and Anthony next year, James’ agent, Leon Rose, was skeptical. Rose called the Knicks and Walsh dispatched senior VP Glen Grunwald and MSG president Scott O’Neil back to Cleveland to break it down and they met at the downtown Ritz Carlton on Saturday morning, without Carter and James.
They showed how they can get $15 million under with the expiration of Eddy Curry’s deal, trading Wilson Chandler ($3 million) and allowing Bill Walker’s contract to expire. The Nuggets said yesterday they won’t trade Anthony this season.

Not only that, but you figure, esp. with all the potential player movement expected (not to mention two other things -- (1) the NBA's coming off a damn good playoff run & Finals where ratings were very good AND (2) the owners don't appear to be as strapped for cash as they would like us to believe), the NBA is prospering & there's renewed interest in the league in a big way, to the degree that the salary cap should balloon back up to the $58M level or higher. There's the extra couple of million right there....Done deal..No reason the cap shouldn't go back up next year -- I think the league is doing just fine (I'm still trying to figure why it dropped -- but hey, that may have helped us more than hurt us this summer 'cause quite a few of these other teams came up short
)..
The bottom line is this -- I get the sense that Team LeBron ain't all that interested in the how-to-be-a-billionaire stuff...It's been my contention right from the start --- all the financial stuff, while interesting & informative, is only one small aspect of the NY equation (and an obvious one anyway -- you're basically telling him what he already knows about NY)..It just isn't enough by itself to entice this man...They want to know how good the team's gonna be...In this second meeting, LeBron's agent was asking us direct questions about how we plan on improving the team, both this summer and next summer as well. Sounds like we may have **** the bed a little in that 1st meeting on that Thurs., but we may have made up for it in a big way on Sat....Tommy Dee was reporting the other day that LeBron & Mav Carter may be in NY on Wed. for a visit...If that happens, I'll feel even better about this...We'll see what happens..But right now, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances.
