...and how to interpret.

What we do: announce signing of Amar'e on Monday/Tuesday
What this means: Saturday's 2nd Lebron meeting was to get blessing on Amar'e signing, and is a great indication that Lebron will in fact come to NY and play for the Knicks; Walsh's explanation that the meeting is just to clarify cap situation is smokescreen.

What we do: No Amar'e signing but he doesn't take other meetings
What this means: Knicks waiting until Weds/Thurs to introduce both at a news conference. Amar'e not taking add'l meetings is a good indication that he has a strong verbal, if not contractual, agreement with the Knicks.

What we do: No Amar'e signing and DOES meet with the Nets & others
What this means: Lebron wants to play with Bosh and/or Wade. No room for Amar'e. He's informed and moves to his own Plan B. Would, imo, be a mistake.

What we do: announce a trade for Jefferson and/or Ellis using Lee
What this means: We're not getting Lebron. This is clearly a Plan C or worse type move.

BTW, I hit a half-court shot yesterday, and before sending it up said to myself 'if this goes in Lebron is coming to NYK'. This is about as good an indication of him coming as any reports we hear from the press, at this point.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

What we do: announce that Donnie Walsh is stepping down for "health reasons", and that Isiah Thomas will be named interim president of basketball operations
What this means: A reconstituted line up including Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, Mo Taylor, and Jamal Crawford, and an undefeated record in this years summer league in Las Vegas.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
