It seems like the chances of lebron to new york are increasing, but let's say he doesn't come.

We sign Amare to his max deal, then look to deal for Paul or Parker, Parker being the more likely, and preserve enough cap space to offer Melo next summer. Besides that, just fill with temporary pieces. The Knicks have a good shot at dealing for Parker because they can offer Lee to SA or via 3-way, or they can offer Chandler and Douglas to SA or 3-way to a team who is trying to save some money. Maybe Spurs are interested in Al Jefferson by 3-way deal.

If we can't get Parker, i would consider Ellis and still save cap space for next summer for either parker or melo. I have reservations about Ellis tho, because i'm not sure how well he would play with Amare in the pick & roll, or what position he is in the future, and if he is indeed a future star in the league. But i would consider.

It seems like Melo is strongly considering New York, and a marriage of Amare, Parker, and Melo is meant to be when it is all said and done. This is the second best scenario if lebron doesn't follow amare here and melo or parker follows next summer. I like Mike Miller, but i don't think we can preserve the necessary cap space if we sign him.

I am very intrigued by all these possibilities and i think we have a very good chance to put together a deep playoff team this year and a championship team the following season.

There will be solid big man options along the way. Chandler can attract us one, and also, resigning Barron and maybe signing someone like Kurt Thomas is a start. I know it's not much yet, but you get the stars you need first then build around them.
