My question is, why did they also fire Krueger and Malone? I guess Wilkens didn't want them? I realize its not very important, but I'm just curious. I read a few articles today, but none of them really made it clear why they were let go.

Maybe this all has been palnned for a while. Liek Wilkins picking Glypmph and Aguire as his assistants and then agreein to take over the Knicks when the time was right. Just a thought, because to be ohnest I have no idea.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

my guess is that head coaches want their own top level assistants. Look for Wilkens to bring in a guy or 2.

Yeah I am with Martin on that one, if you are brought in to be a leader you want to bring in your own guys who believe in what you are selling.

I generally agree with your explanations and that was my first instinct. I guess we'll see if Lenny brings in someone new. I just thought Kruger and Malone were pretty solid coaches overall, but then again, anything too close to Chaney was not helping this team at all. Best to rid yourself of everything...

They mentioned 1 guy on WFAN yesterday... I forgot the name. I agree-Lenny's gonna bring in 2 guys to go along with Herb and Mike Malone.

He should have enough solid contributions from them and Messiah Thomas. IMO it's looking real good...
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Well, we didn't need Brendan anymore if his son is still on the staff.

IT probably decided that the Knicks needed to clear out the old regime and start fresh.

To asssume cause and effect would be a mistake. Many players make a quantum leap in performance from their first to second seasons, especially ones who were injured as rookies. Williams will be fine, as long as he gets PT, which is a separate issue.

Brendan Malone was fired because he betrayed Thomas in indy, period.

When Bird was hired, and Thomas was still coach, Malone bolted indy to join the knicks. He left Thomas, before thomas got the ax and that's why Thomas probably fired Malone. This was Thomas paying Malone back for Malone ditching Thomas in indy before Thomas got fired.

It's been a long time coming since we had anyone close to being Gulley. Thank God we do now...
