Lyons and Garcia. I thought Lyons was an NBA player last year and he played well as a rookie in the euro league and while Garcia didnt play against anyone giving a 6-10 skill F a chance on this team was smart. Those are two big skilled young players who i think haev a great chance to make the team with our multiple open spots. Also we did indeed bring in Witman and we'll see what he can do from the 2 guard at 6-7. They have some nice sized skill players. Try to keep an eye on all players from all teams and be ready to pounce if guys start to really stick out because there is going to be another smaller free agent battle for the teams with so many roster spots open.

I like the fact that we brought all of these guys in, also.

Wittman needs to get stronger physically from what I saw of him at Cornell, and you wonder if he will ever be able to guard an opponent in the NBA, but he can shoot and he is another intelligent player.

DL him if we can.

Garcia is very intriguing to think about- just have to see what he looks like because I have not been able to find substantial clips of him as a college player. I would love to hear from Walsh or MDA about what they saw in his game that made them bring him in. You hope that he can show enough discipline at this level to play. Other than our 3 #2s, this is the guy to look at if he can get some substantial minutes during SL

Hopefully Lyons learned to play some consistent D while overseas. Pretty talented offensive player, but very I seem to recall him having a very inconsistent jumper.

If Jordan is available, I would should start:

Pg- Douglas
SG- Rautins
SF- Fields
PF- Garcia
C- Jordan

No start for Billy the Kid? Thought he was on our SL roster.

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

You're right. Maybe they have Rautins backing up at PG and SG, or start Walker at SF.

Watch how Walker looks on D- and see if his 3 pt shooting from last year was a fluke, or the real thing.

If he really looks good in the first few games I would pull him out and just tell him to get ready for the pre-season camp. No reason to risk injury while playing against some yahoo summer leaguer trying to make a name for himself.

Big +1. Haven't actually seen him play yet but I'm very excited to see this kid Garcia. A long 6'10" with a Lamar Odom-type skill set (shoot/drive/handle). Supposedly super aggressive on offense -- I see that he was one of the few college players to get to the line over 300 times last year. Can't wait. Leo Lyons was a good invite too. Has a chance to be a very steady performer off the bench in the NBA. Like Garcia, Lyons is another 6'10" big that shows an aggressive style and really knows how to get to the line (245 FT attempts as a senior at Mizzou where he converted almost 75%). Should be some nice competition going on between Garcia/Lyons & Washington.

Very excited to see Ryan Wittman on the squad as well...Kid's got some size and is one helluva shooter with range..3 good invites to evaluate up close in our own system. Nice job Knicks. I say it ever year -- the SL needs to be taken very seriously, esp. in the sorry shape we've been in. Glad to see they're using their noodles here..Jaycee Carroll too Briggy. I know he can shoot it as well -- now I wanna see if Carroll can handle it a little a function as a PG..

If a few of our own guys show they're keepers AND THEN we manage to pluck another 3-4 guys off some of these other teams' summer rosters (AJ Ogilvy, Wayne Chism, Sylven Landesberg and Sherron Collins are 4 guys I'd be keeping a real close eye on), we'd be going a long way in improving the underbelly of our pro roster...
