If we end up with Amare - what about getting Biedrins to play center? G.S. is considering trading him...He rebounds and plays defense, doesn't require the ball much. I'd also be interested in Monta Ellis if we struck out on LeBron, Wade and JJ this year. Assuming G.S. would do it - would you guys do either of these trades?

1) NY sends Curry for Biedrins (filler)

Biedrins
Amare
Gallo/*LeBron
B.Walker/*J.Johnson
T.Douglas

Bench - Chandler, Rautins, Fields, J.Jordan
Cap - *could still sign 2 max free agents

2) NY sends Curry, and re-signed Lee for Biedrins, M.Ellis (filler if needed)

Biedrins
Amare
Gallinari
B.Walker
Ellis

Bench - Chandler, T.Douglas, Rautins, Fields, J.Jordan
Cap - * We're full

I absolutely hate Monta Ellis' game. He plays zero defense and is a small scoring guard. Not a point. I might consider beidrins, maybe Mike can teach him to hit a free throw once in a while lol

Maybe swap Curry for DLee considering this:

When Stoudemire becomes official, it would end the five-year era of David Lee, but set up a possibility of a sign-and-trade to add another piece. There's been rumors of a three-way trade talk between Golden State, Minnesota and the Knicks where Lee winds up with the Timberwolves, Monta Ellis comes to the Knicks and Al Jefferson goes to Golden State. Lee visited Minnesota yesterday and it has only $7 million in cap room, meaning he'd want a sign-and-trade. New York Post

If we bring in Ellis for Lee I want Randolph for the C position. That is very palatable

Question: does anyone know the details about when you can go over the cap? Like lets say the Knicks sign Amar'e and hypothetically, Joe Johnson decides to come here along with him which takes up our two max slots and put us right near the cap. Could we then resign David Lee and trade him for Monta and be over the cap?

No. We would have to renounce Lees bird rights for the space to sign two FAs. My question is however, if we go above the cap with our signings plus vet mins, do we get the mle?

no. if you have cap space that is more than the MLE, you lose the MLE.

.....but once we no longer have capspace?

no, it's a one and done situation, not a fluid one.

i would use whatever trade assets we have at our disposal to target Tony Parker first... he seems to be the one realistic guy who we can go after to make a pick & roll combo with Amare... forget about CP3, we don't have the ammo to pull that deal off.

after that, then i'd figure out how to fill the C position to complement Amare in the frontcourt.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
