i tell ya, only in new york can you have the all-time winningest coach and people hate it and reply he is the all-time losingest coach also. everywhere lenny goes there is success even in toronto. did'nt lenny wilkens take toronto further than they ever went into the playoffs? they came within a jumpshot making it to the eastern conference finals for frigging sakes. is he laid back? maybe. but he does get the most out of his players. he lost his toronto job becuase carter was hurt period. not becuase he can't coach. what is he going to the playoffs with mo peterson and antonio davis the focal point of the offense? look what he has done with atlanta with steve smith and christian "coke sniffer" laetner as the focal points. he coached cleveland to 60 win seasons. he is a good x's and o's guy and the veterans on this team WILL listen. he has the ring to prove it.

Don't worry about those idiots, Jazz. Some folks just can't help but bump their gums spittin' negativity in the face of positive change.

Let them go siddown somewhere and cry about it. Real fans like us are happy, and have every reason to be!

'core, real fans don't like when fratellos manager whom also represents wilkins suggests lenny when he can't work a deal with Fratello. The darn thing was done last minute.

Real fans are not so darn high over Layden leaving that they accept any thing that Thomas is doing.

Thomas took the job after only three days being contacted. Thomas made the coaching change in haste. YOur very naive to just keep taking all this thomas love and think its cool. Its not being well thought out. True Wilkins is better than thomas, but they gave him a 4 year deal. Lenny has not won big in 22years, and both his last stints ended badly.

I would have rather Thomas took over on an interm basis, or Malone to install thomas' desires than settle on a quick fix.

DOn't give me this real fan crap, your acting like a dumb struck babe in the woods just taking everything Dolan is dishing out.

Dolan has changed this team with a hissy fit as his basis.

We got rid of chaney and Laydog, but we could have done better. By the look of things, the knicks are not handling things with a professional manner.

nalod, you kind of sound like wilkens was just some bum coach that we just happen to pick up. yesterday, people were complaining about fratello's boring style of ball. now today people are complaining about wilken's laid back demeanor. which coach do you want? brandon malone would'nt get us better results than a hall of fame coach. you know, people will always criticize. no matter who we get. if we had received karl, westphal or daly there is going to be someone who will hate anyone of them. however we received a "name" coach for zeke but also a great teacher and strategist. some are talking about defense becuase we are spoiled with the knick's defense in the riley/van gundy era. i remember cleveland playing adequate defense. not chicago-new york standard but they were in the top 15. good enough for 50+ wins. atlanta did'nt play weak defense either. toronto did'nt have great d, i will admit that, but it was'nt dreadful. good enough to compete. i think we are lucky to have him especially if we had to succumb to watching chaney foul up games and leads the past two years. exponential improvement!

OK, who would you have liked instead? Fratello? On what basis? And wasn't your crew hatin on him not so long ago, too? Listen to you guys and Malone is the best coach in the NBA, well newsflash, he is nothing compared to either Fratello or Wilkins.
As for your point about bad endings, please tell when do caoche's stints end on a positive note except for these years firing of Carlisle which was a huge supise and by no means a rule?
Also, Atlanta was at an end of an era, they were rebuilding, so obviously they sucked. As for the Raptors, Carter was ijured, and the players just lost faith in him coming back, so they put out 0 effort.
For players like Oak and Carter saying stuff about Lenny, let's examine who is sayin stuff:
1)Oak is a moron. He is a very hard working effective bball player and I loved him. But as a person he is very very very stupid. Probably one of the dumbest people to ever be in the NBA.
2)Carter is soft, he gets ijured way too much, never has lived up to his next Jordan hype, is outshined by Tmac who left him cause they could not play together, he shoots to much, and his understanding of the game is not very high. Also his rant about Lenny shows that he undermined him in the first place.
So all in all there is nothign wrong with Lenny, one final thing, his laidback approach being compared to Chaney is just plain dumb. Chaney did not suck because he was laidback. Chaney sucked because he was an awful coach, period. A good coach can be laidback, especially on a veteran team. The Raptors were full of young punks and old punks like Childs who needed to be whipped around and treated like 4 yearolds, this is not the case with our team, thankfully.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Hard to believe that core, thinks Thomas can't go wrong on any moves. Well when mR SOFTEE(wilkens) PERSONIFIED leads this team to a lax attitude, a lot of players game will suffer after the honeymoon is over , you guys will see why he was semi- retired. The difference between him and Hubie is this, Hubie has a young crew still learning soacking up like a sponge Wilken has marbury and frank to teach, but the rest will beleft in the cold to fend for themselves..

Bottom line is - NYK wouldnt be happy with anyone not named Riley. There would be something to complain about anyone who replaced Chaney. This town really hasnt gotten over Riley leaving and thats a FACT. Nelson - a couple months and done. As much as JVG had success he still lived in Pats shadow. Chaney was a bum. All 3 lived off players from the Pat era. Thomas is cleaning house like Swarzenneggar in California - Deal with it, a new era in Knick BBall is here so lets embrace it.

So many people complained about Starbury being selfish so Zeke takes him under his wing, hires a tutor to help show him the ropes and you still complain. Wilkens will focus on this teams best player - which needs to be done. It sure as hell isnt KT or Mutumbo down on the block - it isnt KVH out on the Wing, and H20 needs help to be a true star - he definitely doesnt shine on his own.

Thomas has done only good things for us. Wilkens is not a bad choice. He might not be perfect but dont underestimate him! He is a good coach. Carter is a whinning bitch who is always injuered. Ignore the reports out of Toronto and base your reports on what he does tomm.

Why is this management bad again? Cause you don't like Thomas? Well get over it, he is here to stay and he is doing a damn good job. you want to see a joke of management, look no further back than a month ago with layzie and chaney running things. we get a gm who is not going to stand for bull**** and people are still unhappy. unbelievable! did'nt it make your blood boil everytime layden justify his dumb-behind moves? did'nt you see red when everytime layzie gets interviewed, no matter how awful we are, he said that he is very happy with this team? the difference between isiah and scotty is that one will not hesitate to take risk and make trades and changes to make this team better. the other is content with mediocrity. so, yeah i am delighted and still dancing in the streets that we have a "joke" for a gm becuase i know he cares about winning. which is something i have'nt seen from management the past two years.
