I fully believe the Players Union when they say the owners and the NBA are lying terribly...claiming multiple 10M losses per year each. It's an absolute joke.

There are no doubt a few teams that are losing money and those teams should be CONTRACTED. The subsequent draft of those contracted teams' players would increase the overall talent pool of the league. It would be great for the league.

However I find it hard to believe that 20+ teams are losing 10M+ per year. Not possible. If it were true the NBA would have folded years ago.

the arguement is always the same. They have to spend that money because its the only way to compete, and its the system that forces them to spend that way. Therefore the system is the problem and not there spending

It seems ass backwards but its right. I mean the Grizz cant afford to lose Rudy Gay, but he's not a max player. Now they signed him early but if these FAs resign then one of these teams like the Knicks is going to offer Gay $80mm and the Grizz will have to match.

The whole operating cost issue with franchises is stupid, because it doesnt factor in the value of the franchise.

If you bought and NBA team for $300mm 8 years ago and now its worth $550mm and but you lost $10mm a year running the team HOW HOW HOW is that losing money?

Also these owners happily leave out a lot of secondary income and write offs these teams afford them

the stupid thing with the Grizz is the fact that they could have matched any offer that came in and at the first second they offered MORE than any other team could have offered in terms of % increases and starting salary per year. They bid against themselves.

I don't know of any owners who have trouble holding their water, but I hear Donnie Walsh has some trouble in that area.
