the arguement is always the same. They have to spend that money because its the only way to compete, and its the system that forces them to spend that way. Therefore the system is the problem and not there spending
It seems ass backwards but its right. I mean the Grizz cant afford to lose Rudy Gay, but he's not a max player. Now they signed him early but if these FAs resign then one of these teams like the Knicks is going to offer Gay $80mm and the Grizz will have to match.
The whole operating cost issue with franchises is stupid, because it doesnt factor in the value of the franchise.
If you bought and NBA team for $300mm 8 years ago and now its worth $550mm and but you lost $10mm a year running the team HOW HOW HOW is that losing money?
Also these owners happily leave out a lot of secondary income and write offs these teams afford them
