A) We land AMARE, but rather than a straight 5yr signing, we send PHX back Wilson Chandler in a sNt creating a huge trade player exception for the SUNS since we are so far under the cap and can make lopsided deals like this one. This deal opens up more cap room since we are losing Chandler's 2 million. We may be able to get a pick as well.

B) Still way under the cap and able to make lopsided trades, we trade Eddy Curry to Washington who happily rids itself of Gilbert Arenas, but we tell em we need Javale McGee or no deal.

C) With the remaining 8 mil that we opened up by trading Curry, we can sign a Mike Miller and have enough left over for an Earl Barron.

Not the ideal. But the Knicks are walking a fine line between the great FA 2MAX haul or ending up with barely anything. Amare by himself while we lose Lee doesn't make the last two years worth it. There's nothing in 2011 coming. So use Curry to build a roster now. McGee is the kind of Center that would work with Amare and D'antoni.

Plus doesn't it take two seasons for guys to get over Gils injury?

There are FA in 2011, there will also be players available for trade over the next year who are far more worthwhile in chasing than Gilbert Arenas. Why blow your cap flexability on an overrated chucker. Forget the gun incident and the injuries. When Gilbert was healthy and trouble free he was still incredibly overrated

If Arenas is the poison pill to swallow that brings in McGee and maybe some #1 picks to replace those we've lost, I could live with that.

Outside of signing LeBron or D-Wade, there is no improving this team to contend in the East by the 2010-2011 season. So why force it and eventually fail anyway. This doesn't have to be a one year plan. If we want to contend for championships, its not going to be a one year plan, unless we land LBJ or Wade
