The Phoenix Suns have reached agreement with free-agent forward Channing Frye(notes) on a five-year, $30 million contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

After opting out of the two-year contract he signed last summer with the Suns, Frye became a coveted commodity on the market. After two leans seasons in Portland, Frye had a terrific season for the Suns, averaging 11.8 points and shooting 44 percent from 3-point range.

Frye, 27, earned interest from multiple teams – including the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks. Frye was always hopeful of returning to the Suns after the resurgence he had with point guard Steve Nash(notes) and coach Alvin Gentry.

Wow. I guess that Darko deal wasn't so bad.

Amazing.

I guess the players' union is correct in saying it's a farce that the league and owners claim they are losing 10s of millions per team per year.

Good for Frye. Never really hated the kid. He just fell off a cliff here after Nate ruined him in that Raptor game. Still not really a fan of snickerdoodles. Was a damn good rookie though again until Mourning destroyed him that one game - then it was as if all the fire and desire disappeared from Frye. Maybe after that game Richard Jefferson put a hurting on him he could never return from.
