Aight people, the real Knick fans on this board (Kore, Silver, etc.) finally can breathe free. The days of the evil dictatorship is over, Laydumb and Don the Moron Chaney are gone. Let us raise a glass to the new bright future of the New York Knickebockers devoid of Laydumb and Chaney. GO NY GO NY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1)Thomas will be awesome, we are one move away from being a title contender, all we need now is a postthreat, and I bleave Thomas can get it done this season or offseason.
2)We have a real, and very good coach in Wilkins.
3)Marbury is an allstar PG with limitlsess potential at only 26 and gettin better every year since coming into the league.
3)Penny is apparently having a second coming in his rebirth in NYC.
4)KVH and H20 are meshing with Steph greatly, both looking better and better paying alongside the start child.
5)KT and Deke are the defensive ancors any team needs.
6)Our bench is deep, with Penny, FW, Anderson, Doleac and OH, plus Sweetny developing, hopefully for next season like FW.
7)We have 2 2nd rounders in a deep draft.
8)GO NY GO NY GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

The knicks if they make the playoffs can be a dangerous team, they have 3 bonafide scorers, a good bench with penny, Frank, Anderson, etc. And a superstar in Marbury, I like what zeke is doing and he is doing it with a young superstar who is not even in his prime yet, This is the youngest, healthiest and most talented the knicks have been in the last 4 years....

things should be looking up..

If the Knicks get a post up player, they'll be a pretty good team. Until then, they will have to rely too much on outside shots.

I agree, we are a great team now, but we are still a jump shooting team, if Alan and Marbury are both cold than we will lose. All we need is a bigman that can post up and we are championship contenders. I actually like our our new coach also. Isiah is making great moves and will lead us to a ring during the marbury era (next 6-10 years) NYK!!!!

I think KVH can be that post up guy if he works on it. What we really need is Defense at the 4/5 off the bench cos Mutombo can't play all game long.

I'm not sure about Lenny Wilkens yet but I will wait and see. I'm really happy that Chaney is gone. The truth is that without a lowpost guy we are in trouble. We will make the playoffs but cannot go much further than that. I dont want to bitch about not having a low post guy because the first steps in cleaning house have been taken.

First get rid of the ppl that made the mess then get rid of the mess and then start building clean. Since the makers of the mess are gone they can start cleaning house as their last step. Low post guy can wait till Feb 18th. Right now i'm going to enjoy having a real coach.

Oh yes...

It's a good time to raise those glasses, fellas!

Now that we have dealt with the PG, backup 2 and coaching situations, we only need that low-post threat. I am in full agreement with you all on that.

I am sure Isiah will bring in someone soon...

Who that is, I can't even guess. Especially after today, we know that we can't even trust the back page sports columns. LOL

Lenny is extremely well-respected. IMO he'll come here and get things moving in the right direction- upward.

Lenny still wants to prove he has some good coaching left in the tank. I think he does, and can't wait to see him make moves happen.

I also think that Mark Aguirre and Herb Williams (and Mike Malone too) will prove to be solid assistants who, along with the giuding hand of Messiah Thomas, will ensure that things don't get lax like Lenny's detractors predict.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

First off, I don't really know how anyone on this board can call someone else a hater. The reason why anyone comes to a board like this is that they are a serious Knicks fan. People who come here are begging for serious discussion of a team that they can't get enough of. I don't believe anyone here is going to back down. We should all feel free to criticize or applaud any moves made by this team.

To the post, I have to admit I'm skeptical of Lenny. Winningest coach yes, but to me he is not the best fit here. We needed defensive intensity badly, and I don't know if Lenny will bring that (wait and see). This is going to be a tough job, and we needed someone with a big personality who would demand accountability now. But let's see. Lenny hasn't been in the leauge so long for nothing.

I agree Marbury is for real and he's been a better pure PG than I originally thought. He has done a very nice job of getting teammates involved and taking shots in the flow of the offense, and driving to the basket and forcing the action when he has to. We can certainly win a lot of games with him.

I also think that KVH has been a revelation for us. This last month and a half he is scoring consistently and easily. Our rebounding is also the best its been in years due in part to him. He meshed really well with Marbury last night and I hope he continues to do so. I think both were frustrated young players early in their career, and now both are older and have more talent around them. With Houston, I think he just has to get healthy. He's been on fire some games this year, but flat in others. We have enough depth to not play him 40 mins every night. We need to let him get fully healthy/

Penny is nice. He can still score and he's a smart player. I wouldn't want to thrust him into a starting role (and we don't have to). But he is an asset off the bench.

As for defensive stoppers we need a bit more than Kurt and Deke, especially since Deke isn't a great match up with half the teams. A Ratliff type would be nice. Also, Frank needs to get off the bench more. He can stop other PG's and he's got great hands on D.

I wouldn't be excited about two 2nd rounders so much. Ideally we get a first at some point. But if we keep the 2nds, Herve Lamizana is a tall, atheletic forward from Rutgers who can block shots, dunk and hit an occasional 3. IMO a good fit here.

Anyway, its wait and see. I need to know how Lenny's rotations will shake out, whether we can see a difference in defensive instensity, and whether he can continue to get them to play as a team. I am hopeful since Chaney is gone.

A hater is somebody like Canada and Caseloads who don't even give anything a chance. They bashed Thomas the minute he was hired, they bashed Penny w/out seein him for one game, they bash Wilkins before he even has a conference. That's what haters are, period. It would be nice if this post was not delated btw. Oh and they bashed Marbury for no reason at all, too.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Simrud, then what exactly do you consider yourself? You yourself hated on Marbury and Penny after one loss. You're more up and down with your posts than someone alternationg on Prozac and Ritalin.

My point still stands. I think its wrong to accuse anyone of being a hater. We all of have our opinions and likes and dislikes. Truth is no one hates the team. We are free to criticize the moves they make.

I did not hate on them, I admitted that I was wrong thinkin that Marbury was the savior, he is really goot but can't save this team by himself, a coach and maybe a lowpost guy are needed. Now we got a coach.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

It's a clean slate from here on in, but everyone has the right to call it as they see it. Let's see what Wilkens has in store for us. Like I said I don't think its the best hire, but I'm not gonna root for him to do badly. I think we all want to see them win.

Everyone is free to criticize and applaud, no one said otherwise but those people do not come here begging for serious discussion!

Canada is annoyed because he hates Zeke and Lenny from Toronto. I would probably feel the same way if I lived in Toronto.

I personally don't mind "haters", sometimes some people just have different opinions that might seem negative to most. What I cannot stand are people who post negative comments about the PRESENT situation based on a (very distant) PAST.

For example, some posters here keep talking about how Penny was this and Penny was that in 1995, that he was a top 3 player etc. That's fine, but it has no bearing on the present. He will NEVER be the player that he used to be, and it's downright frustrating to be dwelling on the "what ifs" and "what could have been". It's silly.

That being said, Penny's been playing extremely well lately, and in my mind he can still be a nice 15pts-5rbs-5ast SG/SF (which I think is near his average as a rookie) whether off the bench or as a starter. Please give the guy 30min consistently, Lenny!

Another example, some posters keep on saying Starks would've done this or LJ was this or that... dude! This might seem like blasphemy... but if there are guys that are truly "DONE" and will never play basketball again, it's these guys! Please stop putting down the players and wishing Patrick Ewing, LJ or Starks was still here! It's not gonna happen :-)
