-Mooch for Spoon. Grade A. Spoon is the most unwatchable player in the league. At least we get to say MOOCHIE now.
-Cutting the big European dufus...who cares?
-Marbury trade. I gave it a huge A when it was done & downgraded to a A minus when a few hours later we heard Lampe was included. I'm back to an A. Marbury is an absolute STUD.
-Firing Chaney. A must, a given. Hiring another passive guy like Wilkins? I expected more from Zeke. Wilkins hasn't been as good as mediocre in 10 years. I liked the Suns & Bulls replacements far more than Wilkins.

We should have hiried Kevin O Niel this past summer

Also back in 2001 we should have firied Layden & hiried Jerry West. Right now we would be running the east.

Canadian: You said Zeke was terrible and would ruin the knicks and he has done nothing of that sort. If anything he has gotten more done in less than a month than Layden did in 3 years!! Give him the same window and he will do much better. Have some patience, no team wins a championship overnite. It's one step at a time.

First you get rid of the people that create the mess, then you clean up the mess, then you start building and then you start winning. You have a probalem with Wilkens losing in Toronto then keep it with the Raptors. Let him coach 10 games with the Knicks.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

what has been most exciting about this Zeke era is the surprises. Every one of them. Spoon, gone. Marbury, home. Coach, Lenny from left field over the Czar.

I think the critical aspect of the Wilkens hire will be the length of his contract. If it's less than three years, he can be easily replaced at any time.

if it is less then 3 years i'd be worried because it might mean Isiah still wants to take over eventually. But i dont know..he did say that being the coach and GM would be too much. Hopefully he sticks to that.

I accept the fact that Isiah will eventually coach this team as inevitable. Wilkens does have qualities that concern me: passivity and an unwillingness to be pro-active with adjustments.

But unless the Knicks get a low post presence, any coach is going to have trouble being successful.

btw, The NY Times reports that Fratello wanted $5 millon per year, which was a deal breaker.
