I think you really have to look at this guy and his potential

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AoCNE9vHKnjz0RLR6RA6FOm8vLYF?slug=ap-bobcats-felton

The Bobcats have made no push to re-sign Felton in part because of salary-cap issues. The team’s payroll close to the luxury tax, a figure owner Michael Jordan has said the team won’t exceed.

Felton, the No. 5 pick in the 2005 draft, has spent his entire career in Charlotte after leading North Carolina to the national championship. After turning down a contract offer from the Bobcats worth about $6 million a season last summer, he averaged 12.1 points and 5.6 assists last season and shot a career-best 46 percent from the field.

But Felton struggled mightily in the first round of the playoffs when he was consistently outplayed by Orlando’s Jameer Nelson(notes) in the Magic’s four-game sweep.

When the Bobcats gave Tyrus Thomas(notes) a one-year, $6.2 million qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent and Tyson Chandler(notes) didn’t opt out of the final year of his deal, it left Charlotte only about $2 million shy of the projected luxury tax figure and may have marked the end of Felton’s time in Charlotte.

supposedly they WILL match an offer to tyrus but felton can be had.

there was just an article that tyrus and larry have a mutual respect and want to work together.

can't believe tyson chandler didn't opt out in this crazy market.

Not sure I read this article the same way you title it. Just says the BoobKittens won't exceed the cap, not that they wouldn't match offers for Ty Thomas. They could find ways to dump salary and keep Thomas.

my gist is if you offer Tyrus $8mm they go into the luxury tax which is (supposedly) something MJ is dead set against. Food for thought

LOL. Potential? The guy been in the league for 4 years already. Before the start of the next season he will be 24 yo and his career stats is 8 points and 5 rebounds with his best year coming two years ago at a wonderful stat line of 10 points 7 rebounds. His potential seems to be of a guy who was hyped but never could live up to it after every opportunity was given to him.

Yeah, I kind of agree. I'd be very happy with him as a seventh man on the cheap, but otherwise, no thanks. We need to stick with plan A.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Eh, I guess I don't need to be critical. You present a plausible scenario, but I guess the question is whether they would try and cut other salary to keep him... they clearly traded for him.

I like his physical skill set and how it would fit as an MDA frontcourt player. Jeffries had no cojones. Literally, DJ checked
