Drew Gooden(notes) has reached agreement on a five-year, $32 million contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Gooden has played for eight teams in eight seasons, and hopes to find some stability with the fast-rising Bucks.

Bucks general manager John Hammond and agent Dan Fegan struck quickly on Thursday and cut a deal to help solidify Milwaukee’s frontline. Gooden will join a core of Andrew Bogut(notes) and Brandon Jennings(notes) that has added Corey Maggette(notes) and Chris Douglas-Roberts(notes) in the offseason. The Bucks are still negotiating with free agent John Salmons(notes) to return.

hilarious that he's the first to sign... and that seems like a lot of money for drew.

That was fast. Gooden is a good piece. He should have waited a little bit.

MLE is about right. He's a good scorer, shooter and decent rebounder. He play ZERO defense, but I guess with Bogut playing like a franchise center you can work with that.

Man... that draft SUCKED. Look at the guys picked between Yao (always hurt) and Amare:
Jay Williams
Dunleavey
Gooden
Skita
Dejuan Wagner
Nene
Chris Wilcox

Drew Gooden is their offensive power forward sorely they lacked. Milwaukee is dam near a lock to make the playoffs if Jennings can stay healthy. I expect Jennings assist numbers to hover around 10 per game. His PPG will drop but his percentages should be even better this year.

If you noticed Milwaukee has acquired players who can put the ball in the basket and play a little D. Obviously you can make signings like this when you have a very good Center and PG in place.

Drew Gooden isnt the smartest basketball player but he can put the ball in the basket and definitely has some skills.

I didn't think Drew Gooden would get that much. : / Good signing by Milwaukee. Andrew Bogut and Gooden are a good frontline.

Now that Tim Thomas is done, is there a more lackadaisical guy in the NBA? How this guy continues to sign for big $$ is beyond me.

If I'm the Knicks, I try to see if I can pry Darington Hobson loose along with Jerome Jordan. Expand the forthcoming deal to get both guys -- overpay with some of Dolan's money even if that's what it takes..I'm sure they could use some extra money now to help pay for Gooden..That might seem attractive to them -- how's this sound $5M in cash plus one of Rautins or Fields or a future 2nd round pick...Might have to go down in 2 seperate deals, I think you can only exchange a max of $3M in any one deal, no? No matter. Do whatever you have to do -- they liked Hobson a lot -- do what you have to do to go get him..I really think Milwaukee took Hobson at 37 to spite us with the idea that we might coming calling to get him anyway. Think about it, with Redd, Delfino, Mbah a Moute and now Maggette and CDR, what do they need with Hobson?

MLE type money sounds about right for Drew Gooden... that's probably what guys like Al Harrington, John Salmons, etc. will also sign for.

Bucks are a strange mix of players that duplicate themselves, especially at SG/SF.

They got Redd, Delfino, CDR, Maggette, Luc Mbah a Moute. They drafted Hobson and I think they want to keep Salmons.

At PG they got Jennings and who else?

Good for Gooden don't know what the Bucks were thinking signing him for 5 years he's not that good. Corey Magette the human stat stuffer another great acquisition by the Bucks lol. Lets see how well they do this year when they come back down to earth, I'm not enamored with Brandon Jennings who had about 2 good months maybe a little less and then shot like 30 percent the rest of the season. People make a big deal out of this guy he's nothing more than Kenny Anderson 2.0 with a jumpshot but not as good passing the ball and we all know how Kenny Andersons story went.

The Bucks are looking for depth and consistency. Redd is gone and will likely be Marbury'd this season. Delfino is super inconsistent. I expect him to be traded or get the Charlie Bell treatment this year. Luc Mbab a Moute has no offense and is a undersized PF. Maggette can play SG or SF and is consistent whether he starts or comes off the bench. CDR is a big question mark. If CDR and Skiles bump heads CDR will be gone.

I see the Rotation as follows(assuming they resign Ridnour and Salmons):

Bogut/Sanders
Moute/Gooden
Ersan/CDR/Delfino
Salmons/Maggette/Delfino
Jennings/Ridnour

Kurt Thomas and Kerry Stackhouse are just too old to rely on for an entire season. If CDR pans out Delfino will not be picked up for 2011. If they lose Salmons then obvisouly Delfino becomes more important.

Skiles isnt playing those 2nd round pick guys anytime soon.

why would Redd be gone? He just needs to get healthy. He's one of the league's best shooters and he's in a contract year. Redd will be getting healthy and playing good ball. He's a big part of what they want to do

They just traded for Maggette, and at $9M per they prob shouldn't play him anything less than 20MPG. And both Salmons and Jennings were at 30+ min.... where are the minutes gonna go to? And there is no way Redd gets zero minutes, and he can't be traded if he can't play.

If you saw the team play with him you wouldn't be asking that. The guy is a ball stopper and he just isnt that good anymore. They finally made the playoffs after losing Redd and adding Jennings? Addition by subtraction at it's finest. The Michael Redd era in Milwaukee is over.

Michael Redd is going to get bought out or sent home. Remember Tracy McGrady this past year. He was making 20 million to sit at home and stay away from the team.

Maggette will likley get 30 minutes at SG and SF. Skiles plays who is playing well on the per game basis. If you are sucking he is going to yank you. If Milwaukee keeps Salmons they will likely make some mid-season moves. The Milwaukee roster is still very fluid though. Ridnour and Salmons havent been resigned. If they lose both then Delfino will get minutes as the backup PG.

Bogut/Sanders
Moute/Gooden
Ersan/CDR
Maggette/Delfino
Jennings/Delfino
