Nuggets Might Be Willing To Trade Carmelo Despite discussing a contract extension with Carmelo Anthony, sources close to the situation indicate the Nuggets would rather trade him than risk losing him in free agency for nothing. The Nuggets are attempting to be proactive by securing Anthony to an extension this summer. He will become a free agent on July 1, 2011 if he doesn't sign an extension.

Seriously. Knowing this I am putting feelers out there right now.

I don't know if this works with sign and trades, but Lee, Chandler, $3 mil for Anthony? No doubt!

If you can't attach anyone to Lee in a S&T, I am offering Curry, Chandler, Douglas plus. You get Carmelo in here you got a thousand different options.

I said before I like Wade more than LBJ because of that killer instinct. I feel the same way about Melo. He is also the best of both worlds because he isn't much older than Bron.

Anthony, Johnson, and even Lee don't no joke.

Pretty sure all trade talks with Denver will start with Danilo Gallinari. Which is fine. Carmelo Anthong is a stud and Gallo will never come close to being that good.

In order to trade Lee, he would have to want to go to Denver. If we did that, we wouldn't get any cap space savings in return. This would bring us around $36 million in salary, I thnk. If we can't get Lebron or Wade, but can get Bosh if we were to also have Carmelo, then I like the trade. But ultimately, I would really like to trade for Carmelo using Eddy Curry's expiring contract instead, as you mentioned in your other scenario.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

True but if we are signing and trading Lee we can still move Curry. My real dream scenario sets up like this:

Trade Lee or Curry for Anthony.
Use the other guy to get Emeka(a true center. Less important if you have Lee and used Curry for Melo but Anthony-like LBJ- would probably play PF for MikeD anyway).
Sign Johnson(his game really will mesh with anyone of the big FA's).
Get 1 of the shooters they are chasing.

Now your team would be

Emeka-Center
Anthony-Forward
Gallo-Forward
Johnson-Guard
Douglas-Guard

I would be fine with something like Gallo and Curry for Melo. But that is it. No money. No picks. And I just don't see this regime doing it.

Gallo and Chandler would be the bare minimum asking price for Melo if we trade Curry's expiring for him.

Then could you add Lee and Joe Johnson in FA in the most likely scenarior.

Not left with a lot-

C- Lee
PF- ??
SF- Melo
SG- Johnson
PG- Douglas

Denver can do better. They could get a top 5 pick and nice package of younger players. We have nothing here. Pass

I don't know about never, gallo truely held his own against melo, but I would throw him in a trade for melo quicker then you could say pizzano

LOL. Melo may be available but Denver likely wants your first born to get him. ANY package we come up with isnt going to get us Melo.

Gallo, Curry, SnT, Al...2015 1st pick ..

I use to hate allan houston when he played for detroit, he avg 30 against the knicks, 17 against every body else..melo has lit us up almost every single time he plays @ MSG..

well, i guess the good news are there are options and we have the most flexibility when it comes to trading. the trading options are incredible with melo, cp3 and parker. we could end up doing well this summer without getting bron. i would dance in the streets with bron, melo or cp3.

I think Gallo is a piece to keep moving forward. He is key to pairing with any of these stud FA, especially Melo and Lebron.

There is a Twitter report from a Nugget's writer or something (solid, I know) saying that Melo is meeting with the Knicks tonight or tomorrow...also saying that Wade has been told by the Knicks that if he comes Melo will join him.

The Knicks have nothing that the Nuggets would accept for Melo. All the Knicks have right now is money. If you're not an UFA, the Knicks aren't getting them.

This time next year we'll be doing this whole exercise again with Melo's name replacing LeBron's.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
