All this team needed to do was concentrate on building up the frontline with Lee and Gallinari as the stalworth's and use the picks cap space on finishing out the wings and PG spots. This whole FA was crazy. If LBJ wanted to come here--he would come here and we had the space. You want to build a team built with all components. The Ny Knicks saw what Boston did a few years back and believe they could shotcut and follow the model--hiring the same GM who pulled in Grant Hill and T mac 9 years ago. But despite our poor record--we had some things going in the right direction. Now we are shuttering and revamping again---every two years we have done this. We still do not put emphasis on D+R--have not done that since JVG left and lo and behold we havent been a good team since. We try anything and every to cut corners and when we finally decided to take our time--we absolutely blow the 2nd draft that was PG heavy missing what looks to be a star PGs two picks after us 1 pick before us. Now they are going to run around the uS begging players in a incoherent fashion to join a skeleton crew of a team --while a great player who was drafted and only has been a Knick gets pushed aside. Ny deserves what it gets.

Briggs- I agree with you, but didn't you already basically already make a thread about this with your poll?

Which, by the way, congrats on making a successful use of the polling function to create a thread.

Briggs, what happened to you? Getting sentimental about Lee and Gallo as championship cornerstones?

You and I both know that hasn't worked and will not work. You need the PERFECT player to pair with Lee in the front line and that guy is not available. It ties the hands of the franchise and because of that he's less valuable.

Because Lee needs a physical partner in the post, Gallo can't play the 4 and that takes away some of his value.

They are not a good pairing.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Screw David Lee. When your team wins 29, 33, 23, 33 and 23 the last 5 years, you are under no obligation to show loyalty to ANY player.

C'mon man. When I owe you an offer, 2 mil I think, but I give you 7 mil, that is not a sign of disrespect. Stop stirring the pot. Nothing is settled, let's let everything play out.

I agree that the Knicks have not shown loyalty to their players during this process. However, Walsh was also very fair with Lee and Nate. He did pay them more than he had to as a show of goodwill. Hopefully that counts for something with Lee as he maybe one of the best options available for the Knicks. I think the Knicks will really miss Lee and Chandler if they end up losing both.

they havent dissed Lee. The Knicks will try to sign 2 max guys. Lebron, JJ, Wade, Dirk, Bosh and Amare. They will (try) sign one at a time. They dont need to renounce Lee until before they sign the 2nd guy. If they cant sign the 2nd guy you can bet Lee will be back, and that he will have a nice contract.

Lee understands his place in all this. He may not like it but its the way of the world. Walsh handled Lee as well as he could have.

NIx promised to match any offer and DLee wasn't getting a ton of love last summer. As said, he got 5 mil more than they had to. Nate got like 2 mil more than thay had to and KNicks would never have spent cap on matching anything for NAte.

In hindsight, pre-all star lee should have been signed for 6-7 mil a year but nobody could project his value due to his hard work and playing in a system that helps him.

DLee never hurt this team and at the same time is not a franchise player.

I would love to see a situation were we can move eddy and play him with Lebron/?

DLee is not a franchise talent but he can help you win the same way Horace Grant got 6 rings. A great role player!

Thank you I've been telling my friends this for the longest. He's a good player who played on terrible teams. When the game is on the line do you say give the ball to Lee? no you don't because he cannot create his own shot or make a play for someone else . Don't even get me started on his defense. He's probably a great sixth man on a good team not a starter. We don't owe Lee anything and I don't wanna hear he averaged 20 and 10 because I've seen Clarence Weatherspoon average 20 and 10 with bad Sixer teams and Chris Webber on one leg in Philly average 20 and 10 so what does that really mean?

No layups!

Yup, it's all about priorities. Getting LeBron is number one. I HATE how we have to cater to him, but it's the only way we can make it work right now. If we don't get LeBron and/or Amare (Or Bosh) then plain and simply we'll resign Lee to the contract he deserves, and hopefully we can trade Curry for Okafor. At least we'd be on the right track in that scenario. LeBron is the first priority though. Not David Lee.

that may well be true briggs, but another year or two of mediocre play and the fans would have revolted, heck just read this forum and realgm, the fans are nuts over these losing seasons.. the Knicks are trying to give the fans what they want at all cost... what you said makes a lot of sense, I agree, but this is NY, and people say you can rebuild here.. Again, I question that theory..
