I think that is a very accurate statement. If the Knicks summer goes like that at least we can hope that a more traditional coach that game plans, recognizes the importance of defense, rebounding and big men will be put into place sooner.

Pretty sure we will sign a big. And all the bigs - Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, hell even Drew Gooden and Udonis Haslem - are 100x better defensively than David Lee.

im not saying people shouldn't be weary, but shouldn't we wait until players begin signing to start worrying?

25 wins total? i dont want jj/amare however they can get 25 wins. i am against locking into 2 system guys who may have to outlive the guy who put the system in... can these 2 guys be effective as older players under a system that may ask different things of them if mike splits before contracts expire?

I understand why people are worried, based on past experiences. Has the franchise changed so much that we have no basis for worrying? I guess we'll see. Meanwhile, fire up another thread on more potential boneheaded moves that Walsh could theoretically make so we can all freak out. It's all good.

Is your point that if we only drafted Whiteside then we'd be all set in terms of rebounding and we could win titles? It's not like Donnie is gonna stop building the team after adding JJ3. Apparently he liked JJ4 more than he liked Whiteside. In the end we have to wait until July 8th to know for sure what the team DW and MDA builds will look like and I doubt that we'll have a team that won't be able to rebound the ball.

No it's my contention that we should have taken an attempt at controlling our own destiny and being aggressive by acquiring an athletic 7 foot freshmen C with a lot of talent who lead the entire NCAAs in shot blocking for mere pittance both in cap and NBA $. Of it was me I would've acquired both Whiteside and Jordan--even if that meant grabbing pick 25 that was available and adding pick 39 to the offer to trump anyone else. If we really wanted Fields--we couldve had him at 44 and Rautins was going to be an undrafted player. I DO NOT base what happens in year 1 with a 19-20 year old player as the tell all. I do not think he Knicks will be a team anywhere near close to vying for a championship next year. It would be a great piece to have going forward that we had full control over.

Even if LBJ doesn't sign, we can have a pretty strong nucleus. We must not be tempted by the past their prime JJ or Amare. D Lee, as much as I hate to admit it, represents a consistent double-double. It's plan B, a strong SG and develop our inside presence.

I guarantee that if MDA had a talent as good as Lebron in PHX he would've gotten by SA. Heck the year they got killed by Stern they couldve gotten to the finals and won. Don't be so sure that MDA can't win it all with a great team and this system.

Briggs- Hey- we'd also have Jefferies, and lets say we missed out on Lebron or another big name this off season.

We could really tank it this year, next - still be able to go into a full, real rebuilding vs. the speed dating version we tried.

Land a top 5 pick, and we could be on our way.

Instead, we miss out on Lebron, I really think its 5 years before things can be turned around again on this franchise.
