He was one of my favs in his hey days. His battles with Ewing were epic and funny at the same time. The league lost a character and humanitarian.

A character and a humanitarian is well said.

There are videos of him and barkley carrying on in the locker room that are hysterical.

Remember when nellie had him shooting 3's?

One of my favorite memories of him was back in 92-93 season when the Sixers were at MSG and he and Mase got into it because of a facial dunk on Manute. He actually threw a punch at Mase. The funny part was that Mase had just got honors at halftime for his humanitarian efforts in his community and Manute had gotten a NBA award for his humanitarian efforts in the Sudan the month before and those two were about to trade blows and Marv Albert was cracking up "these two humanitarians want to kill each other." John Basketball was joking that they may take away Mase's award. Manute was a character for sure.

That's a great story. Now we need to find a clip.

Great memory. I forgot all about that incident. I can't remember specifics but I remember Manute, Barkley and Mahorn pranking each other on a halftime show.
Also, didn't Manute knock out his own front teeth trying to dunk when he was at Bridgeport?

I wish I could find that clip. So funny. I had most of the games from 91-95 on tape but my roommate took off with them years ago. I been looking for that clip online for years.

Very sad to see. A guy who gave back and a great character on and off the court.
Wasn't there a story about him killing a lion.

An absolute gentleman who I met in the philly offices before a game one night, a sweet guy with no airs about him. he was a gentleman and a gentle man who contributed on the the court in his way and even more so off the court.
OT: RIP Manute
