from RealGM:
Raptors forward Chris Bosh doesn't want to be thought of as an afterthought in the free agent sweepstakes this summer."I don't want to be mentioned as an addition to a team," Bosh said prior to the season. "I want to be mentioned as the guy that people want to center their team around."
Bosh hasn't changed that stance, saying recently that he's decided to distance himself from fellow free-agents-to-be such as LeBron James.
He is often mentioned as the third-best option on the market behind James and Miami's Dwyane Wade.
Toronto general manager Bryan Colangelo has admitted that he's open to a sign-and-trade involving Bosh if a new contract can be worked out.
"I'm not an addition. I'm a centerpiece," he said. "I have to have that confidence in myself, and I want people to know that, because I'm not somebody that helps out. I'm the guy you get like, 'Yo, we're going to win a championship, you're gonna take us there.'
"I want to hold onto that because I think every kid when they dream about playing basketball, they don't dream about being a role player. They dream about being the man. I have that position in Toronto and to give that up and go somewhere else to be an addition would kinda defeat the purpose of my dreams."

Bosh has a mighty big ego, too. It's not just the LBJ show. If Lebron wants to lure Bosh to play with him, they will have to play as equals. Is that even possible? Sure they will have identical contracts. But if Bosh wants to "be the man" I am not sure that's possible playing on the same team with LBJ.
Furthermore, I am pretty sure that ego <> winning in hoops (or any other sport for that matter, but especially hoops). As Riley said quite eloquently in his book on the subject, team chemistry trumps ego every time. The reason Magic BECAME the legend he did is because he finally bought into that maxim. There is no "I" in "We" and no matter how good Bosh and LBJ are individually, if they can't sacrifice ego for the sake of playing together AND making guys like Gallo better, they will fail when it matters most.
I am 100% behind signing these guys, but I really am not so sure MDA is the coach to plant that Riley-seed in their heads and get them to sacrifice ego for the greater good of multiple chips. Who is the right guy? Probably one of the Jaxes (Phil or Mark). We'll see.
What do you guys think of the problem with ego in a LBJ/Bosh tendem?
