Well if you believe anything that comes out of the papers--it appears as if they are putting their older players up for sale. Maybe they haev decided to just cut salaries and rebuild as fast as possible.

I think that's it -- I think Colangelo now realizes Bosh may be gone, Turk wants out and the rest of the pieces he's put together aren't nearly good enough to get it done and compete at a hig enough level....

Donnie can't let this guy beat us to the punch on purchasing any of these late 1s...

I think Colangelo has proven to be one of the worst GMs in basketball of late. He blew the number one pick, didn't get value for bosh, signed Turk and Jack to bad deals and backed himself into a corner very quickly. He should have pulled the trigger last year and got something of value from a team like the Warriors.

colangelo is a gambler. he gambled in pheonix and it paid off.

he gambled the same way in toronto and so far, it hasn't.

but the franchise is worth 300x what it was before he came in.

jack is not a bad deal. turk is a bad deal but who knew he was going to be a malcontent.

and winning the draft in 2006 is not like winning it in 2004 or 2007. what HOF talents did he pass up on? gay and aldridge? don't bring up roy b/c he dropped to 7.

you need more luck than skill to put together a big time team in this league. ask presti who's team would be sh t if not for getting #2 and not having to pick oden. thorn gets the 3rd pick this year, if it was 2007, he doesn't even get a chance at durant. pure luck.

Yeah, but a savvy GM would have realized Bargs was not a number one and traded the pick. MS is right, Colangelo has sucked. You do need luck to succeed in almost every pocket of life, but the good ones make their own luck.

sure, everyone trades #1 overall picks.

remember why he's in toronto and got the #1 pick? it was during the stern euro expansion experiment.

That's an odd thing to say. Seems to me that they need to pick up solid players in the draft every year ie San Antonio if they want to compete for a championship.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I think he is referring more to the relative importance of Lebronquest or Boshhunt when compared to what we can pick up in the draft.

I would agree with you though about picking up players in the draft, and if you can buy some picks and maybe find 2 or 3 serviceable players out of 4 or 5 drafted, you have accomplished something.

I still feel that this is a very deep draft, and you can get some great value at the end of the 1st Rnd and the first half of the 2nd Rnd.

I'm for the shotgun approach- purchase as many 2s as you can and hope that half of them stick.
