Since Chaney is on his way out, who should be our next coach?

Isiah said today he definitely will not coach because he wouldn't be able to do both well, but who else is around?
My picks in order are...

Doc rivers
Chuck Daly

and after that I am drawing a blank.
Who else?
What should we be looking for in a coach?

I think it will be Malone, becaue Isiah is going to want to coach next year or the year after, and since every established big name coach knows that, they wouldn't want the job.

Daly is not coming back. I like Karl best out of the guys out there. Others include Doug Collins and Mike Fratello.

Safer money is on Malone or Kruger. Malone is the favorite because Isiah has worked with him so much.

Malone then a big name guy next year unless Isiah's lying about how he can't be both GM and coach.

Brendan Malone will most likely get the gig IMO. He has a history with Zeke and would make for the easiest transition. Zeke can then hang out in the gym and play assistant coach with his sweats on and there will be no pressure.

He can explore options to fill the spot permanently in the offseason.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I'd go with Paul Westphal. He had plenty of success with the Suns back when Charles Barkley was on the team, and his career winning percentage is .627. I hope he can come out of Pepperdine and join the Knicks!

I personally think we are going to get Pat Riely or Doc Rivers. Actually its more like, "I personally WISH we get Riely or Rivers.

This is not my reccomendation, but something I've heard from a couple of guys. How about Karim Abdul-Jabbar for head coach? Apparently he won an ABA championship in his only season as coach. He is an intelligent dude and a dominant personality. I don't know if it would work...I was just wonderin what you guys thought.

Thomas needs to stay away from coaching.
If the team fails, they'll chant "Thomas sucks", and he'll have no where to go. From the GM stand, he can at least work from the top down.

If it fails in the next two years, we are screwed.

Bottom line is knicks need to make playoffs this year. Anything less is a complete failure and embarassment

In the next 2 years they need to compete in the eastern conferance final.

3-4 yrs a championship. IT was stated this was the goal to win a championship. I really don't believe him or Dolan's words, only actions.

Anything less would hav been a sham. Same old knick BS: goal is to make money, not win rings.

Jerry Krause works for Yankees now? Worlds gone nuts!

I've heard Kareem's name tossed around lately too. If Doc Rivers gets taken before we get him, I wouldn't mind giving Kareem a shot at it. I'd also give Mark Jackson a chance. Even John Starks. Someone with some fire and passion.

Maybe Mark Aguirre, remember his other friend coaching for him in Toronto.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

chuck daly's too old, pat riley's burned out and is dedicated to the heat as gm, and personally i don't think he would consider jabbar due to zeke's "conceededitivity" with the spotlight. i don't think doc's gonna take any jobs until this ny thing is resolved, but we do have alot of options.

I got fire hardcore and I got passion like you have never seen before. I bet you that if I was coaching the knicks would have a better record.

just a thought but bill laimbeer(as much as i hated him back in the day)has showed a little worth in the wnba. yes, iknow, it is the Wnba, but he did take a team that did'nt even make it to the playoffs the year before & won a championship his first year. 411?

How about Chris Dudley? He isn't playing anymore, maybe he is interested.

I'm wondering if Rick Mahorn could handle this team. Doug Collins is a worthy condsideration as well as making a offer to coach K...Yep

Let Tiny Nate Archibald coach the knicks, I bet he won't "QUIT"
