Curry doesn't have to be traded right away and his contract becomes more valuable as the season goes on.
Not sure what to make of this. Face value, if it is indeed Curry, Chandler & TD, it's a trade we probably have to make. Chandler & TD together is nice value and it'd be ashame to lose them but to move useless Eddy Curry and his contract & to get a premier PG in his prime who's been a winner (and I think he would absolutely make us that much more attractive before FA hits), you probably have to pull the trigger. I could see this from SA's perspective as well -- When Parker came back from his injury, Pop continued to start George Hill, which may have irked Parker a little. Bottomline is they like Hill & I know for a fact they like D-League standout PG Curtis Jerrells a lot too (the Spurs actually payed Jerrells to stay away from other interested teams and continue to develop with their own D-League affiliate). The team played well for a lengthy stretch with Hill running the team - they may consider Parker an expendable asset at this point. Interesting rumor...
If this went down, I'd assume we would most certainly be looking to draft backcourt depth to replace Chandler & TD. I've read on the Knicks web site that they've worked out a lot of wings recently: Jordan Crawford, Sylven Landesberg, Dominique Jones & Greivis Vasquez. They even worked out 6'8" D-League SF Latavious Williams recently as well. Any of these guys could technically replace Chandler (Landesberg would be my choice). As far as PG/Douglas replacements go, we've worked out Willie Warren, Mikhail Torrance, Ben Uzoh & Bobby Maze so far. I like Warren the most of these 4, although they're all capable. I still continue to think Sherron Collins would be a nice guy for us to add at the point. No idea if they plan to work Collins out soon but they should. I like this kid a lot.
Other guys we appear to be interested in are raw Rutgers 7' shot-blocker Hamady N'Diaye, Jarvis Varnado, PF Deon Thompson and 6'10" hybrid forward Craig Brackins. Looks like we definitely plan to address the lack of shot-blocking one way or another (N'Diaye's one hell of a nice kid but he screams project to me. Not sure I'd use a draft pick on him - I'd invite him to summer league though) and we may be looking at Thompson as a NBA-ready replacement for Lee if we don't land Bosh or at least retain Lee. Brackins just feels like a D'Antoni type of big with his big-time scoring ability at that size. I wouldn't mind adding Brackins at all either, I just don't think he'll be there at 38/39. Like a few of these guys, we'll probably have to move up a little to get him...
