The way that guys like Charles Oakly have come out so venomously against the team--and you can see the vitriol with ewing marv albert etc.. I have to think some of the top guys--notably James might not want to be part of a communistic type of business environment that Dolan has created.
10 years of the worst sports management of any team in history per $ spent---you are followed around and told what to say and what not to---of couse some guys will take the big money--but would James allow himself to be cushioned by this guy? Dolan is a big negative in this whole thing--maybe the biggest.

I don't worry about whose money Lebron will take. With this upcoming tour he shows he'll take anyone's money, food, hospitality, time, etc.. This is Bull****, and it's only June. Becoming very turne off by him.

"comunistic"? You mean "under dictator rule"? I suppose. Under a communistic scale Dlee does all the work while eddy watches and gets paid anyway.

Its my opinion that DW has set the tone and the franchise right. MDA has spoken out about players where Larry was thrown in a Gulag for doing such a thing.

The only way top free agents will come to NY is if they are over payed ! It hasn't taking a rocket scientist to figure out the dilema is not with the fans of NY and players but the Management and players. The media (newsday) is owned by dolemite himself I believe. This team should have rebounded by now , but it's still floundering in the abyss as the laughing stock franchise of the league. Could Chicago franchise or Laker Franchise get away with this ? NO
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

“I had a great time in New York,’’ he said. “I still go back and show my love and do things in the city. But the Knicks just don’t like me no more.’’

Oakley was referring to the games he has attended at Madison Square Garden in recent years.

“When I go to the Knicks games, do you know that they have somebody that follows me around to see what I say to the press?’’ Oakley said

This coming after Wade's statements about Chicago are concerning minimally. If you consider the way some guys were treated this year by D'Antoni there are a lot of reasons not to come to NY. I know some posters dismiss Hughes, Nate, Curry, Darko, Hill and Marbury but the NBA is a small fraternity of players and I believe that some of what was done to these guys will impact this off season.

One thing you must remember. If Lebron goes back to Cleveland and they can't win a championship within 2 years his stock will go all the way down and he never will be able to build it back again be cause there will be another superstar to take his place.

that's fuggin' ridiculous that they have someone follow Oak around to monitor his comments to the press... watch out former Knick greats, big brother Dolan is watching... what a joke... how can anyone blame any bigname FA if they pass on NY with the joke of an owner that we have?

They follow him around because all he has done is trash us since he got traded. Oakley is just a bitter old fool and I'm sorry to say that. Great player here and I respect him for what he contributed but he still can't get over the trade to Toronto more than 10 years ago.

TMS read through the lines today with Walsh's comments on Dolan--pure subterfuge and not well hidden

well so what? last time i checked this is a free country... who cares if Oakley is bitter about how the Knicks did him late in his career? the fans know & remember him to be 1 of the greatest & toughest Knicks & they respect the man... he deserves to be seen at MSG & appreciated for what he gave to the franchise w/o having to feel disrespected like that by having one of Dolan's lackeys following him around everywhere... that just goes to show how much of a joke this franchise is in regards to how it's being run.

I think you are right in what you are saying, but within the confines of a privately owned company it is the owner that decided what is or isn't going to happen. Not saying they should disrespect Oakley, but if he really feels that way he should simply stop coming to the Knick's games. That's the logical thing to do. What Oakley is doing is letting his own differences with Dolan allow him to tarnish everyone else in the franchise. Yes Dolan still owns it but there are plenty of hardworking great people trying to do the right thing. And him coming in and whining about this isn't helping anyone nor will it ever.

I don't know why Charles Oakley is upset. It wasn't like he was used as a salary dump in a trade. He was traded for Marcus Camby, who at the time was like 9-10 years younger and contributed. Oak needs to grow up and move on.

If Oak wants to pay for his own ticket and wait in line for Hotdogs then he can say what ever he wants. If he wants them court side tix and the back room access to players and press then he is a guest of MSG and you don't go into someones house and start blasting off about your guest.

Oak has reputation so maybe its a good Idea to have some security around.

Think other teams don't have similar policies? That would be naive.

It will factor in to free agents thinking. New York is not a great place to play, it's a great place to win. No one in their right mind would want to play here.

Dolan is such a piece of garbage it's frightening. The way they were tried to control the media and run this team is downright criminal.

They don't have class and there is no sense of history. Oak, Ewing, all those guys should be hired. It's nice to have Starks on staff and doing things in the community. This franchise has very little history. Anyone who would like to debate that can list the teams that have more championships then the Knicks. We had a legendary team in the early 70's and have been getting by on it since.

Marv Albert was nickel and dimed, the pubically embarrass players, they have no accountability over the years. Players talk and I'm sure Lebron saw what happened to A-Rod getting hammered for not delievering after 2 MVP's. It's something that needs to be factored in here.

Walsh, Mike, Houston was a good start, but you keep your legends involved you build on your history and you embrace it.

Its gonna be easy to neutralize the "Dolan effect".

First just point to the more conventional hiring the last few years with MDA and Walsh. Let Lebron and his merry ass kissers know that Dolan learned that you just let the basketball people do their thing. Dolan can even say what a douche bag he has been and that owners should not meddle in running the team.

I also think the media freenzy and secret police security Dolan employs helps the players. NY media can be a frezy and some form of control. you think if Eddy became accessable to the media it would help him or the team? YOu think Marbury when he opened his mouth it did good? I think many teams have such policies and its more the norm. Look at how bad most players look with they start tweeting?

Somtimes they say things they don't mean and it gets missinterpreted.

Interesting to hear that Paul Pierce listened to Nate.
Seeing our habits on and off the court, he's understanding it's the better routine. When you get around a certain team and there's no discipline, you tend to go off on your own and do whatever you want. It's a lot different here. We're a championship team on and off the court. He's seeing it and learning from it."

I hope Ray Allen wasn't listening.

I don't think that is that far off from what Shane Battier said about Hill when he got to Houston. He said Hill was so far behind because of the situation he was in but I think the meaning was similar. In my book Battier and Pierce are somebodys in the NBA. I wouldn't be to quick to dismiss Mike's shenanigans with these guys this past season.
