HOOPSWORLD is looking for a few new faces.

As with the NBA itself, sometimes rookies bring new energy and new dynamics to a team and we're looking for a couple of first-round talents.

Like all rookies, experience is not the most pressing concern, but having a strong knowledge of the game, its participants and having a unique writing style and tone is critical.

Being a solid writer, who can attend games on a regular basis, is required too.

We will only be considering candidates in certain markets this summer, so if you are near Toronto, Portland or Atlanta, and have an interest in breaking into sports writing, we want to hear from you.

Like rookies in the NBA, the compensation is not stellar; however these are compensated slots that have room for growth.

If you're expecting to quit your day job, think again… These are part time slots, which will require a lot of time, attention and dedication.

If you are interested in being considered, please drop a writing sample and a brief note on why we should consider you for the open slot.

Think carefully about what you send, as we're going to judge you as a writer based on the submissions.

Again, we are only considering candidates located in Toronto, Portland and Atlanta.

If that is you, drop an e-mail to openings@hoopsworld.com.

We are not looking for writers outside of these three markets at this time.

A few more details for you…

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the NBA, its players, coaches and executives.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to cover games and possibly practices and file stories and reports from these events.

The ideal candidate will be technically savvy and have a strong understanding of the internet.

The ideal candidate will be available for assignments and commentary on a regular basis.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of sports writing and structure.

The ideal candidate will be required to conduct interviews in a group setting, conduct radio and Television interviews as needed.

The ideal candidate will file a minimum of two feature length stories per week and conduct a weekly one hour NBA Chat session.
