You can put them through specific drills or situations which your coach sees as significant in terms of making a judgment. You may match up certain players you are considering. Foote vs Gallon, and Varnado vs Brackins would give you a good idea of where those players were in terms of relative quality. If you go by what you have read the past few days, it now seems as if we might consider moving up to get Brackins, and you know that this would not be talked about if he did not impress them in the workout he had with us.
I don't think one workout is enough, just in case a guy has a bad day, but if you combine the workouts with the info you get from your scouts, the combine, and game video, you should have a pretty good idea about the player you are looking at.
Does not mean that you will be correct all the time, but I can't see spending your $$ on a player you have not put through the paces.
