Mark Berman can now be added to Lupica and Vaccaro

"THE Knicks need another training camp, not another blockbuster trade. And they need a different leader to run the bench - Isiah Thomas. It's time for Thomas to take a hard look at taking the short walk from the Garden tunnel where he stands during games to grab the clipboard and work again alongside assistant Brendan Malone."

If we lose to the Mavs, things could change kinda quick.

Chaney's "playoff" talk, harder practices and recent (as in the Bucks game) "improvemnt" of subbing were all because Isaiah has a gun to his head. Every move he makes is under the microscope. If Don Chaney gave a damn- the way we NEED a coach to do, then he would have been putting in this kind of effort in the first place. He had a losing record coming in the door, so he should have at least wanted to get the absolute most out of the players he had. Now we are all supposed to think he's going to do something different? Yeah, okay...

We need a coach that uses PREPARATION, NOT DESPERATION as the MOTIVATION to make the right moves and develop solid strategies.

I am sure we are all in agreement as to which category Done Chaney falls under...

One more good screwup, and he's Done. It'll be classic Chaney. The tension surrounding his imminent firing isn't allowing the team to gel any faster. When that pressure is off, this team can focus on winning.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

One thing about Thomas that I read...he is still collecting money from Indiana in addition to whatever he's earning here. If he starts coaching again, the Indiana pay goes away. So it would serve his wallet well not to start coaching again.

I read that too- good point to bring up! I almost forgot about that. I'd figure Brendan to be a lock, based on that being the situation.

Thomas mum on Chaney's future with team

Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Isiah Thomas all but ruled out taking over as coach of the New York Knicks this season, saying Monday it would be "impossible" for him to be both team president and head coach.

"The responsibility that I have here, president of the Knicks, we're in a state where I think it would be impossible for me to do both jobs and do them well," Thomas said. "Again, we're trying to get healthy and we're trying to dig ourselves out of a big hole. I don't think I would do this organization justice if I did both jobs."

Despite that statement, Thomas would not give assurances that Don Chaney will remain the coach for the rest of the season. New York entered Monday night's game against Dallas 15-23.

"I would never say that about anybody," Thomas said. "This is sports. Those types of broad statements are just not realistic in the sporting world we live in."

Monday marked one week since Thomas pulled off a blockbuster trade with Phoenix, sending four reserves, two draft picks and the rights to guard Milos Vujanic to the Suns for Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway.

The Knicks played poorly in Marbury's first two games before ending a four-game losing streak with a victory Saturday over Milwaukee.

Reporters saw Thomas working with Marbury and other players at the team's shootaround Monday morning, the first time Thomas was seen giving instruction to players. Thomas said he told Chaney of his tutoring plans beforehand.

"It's about passing on knowledge, it's about helping the players," Thomas said. "I just some things I saw that I wanted to point out, just passing on stuff you want to give to people on your team."

Hardaway made his first start for the Knicks on Monday night against Dallas, replacing Keith Van Horn (bruised kneecap). Van Horn is listed as day-to-day.
