Papabear Says

I want to know what you think. D'Antoni wants to be the guy calling all the shots. LeBron ain't signing any place where he can't have a say in personal. Maybe the final say.

That is a really tough question. Walsh appears to have tremendous character and has committed to D'Antoni. If that line is drawn in the sand I think Walsh lets LeBron go somewhere else. My guess is Dolan might intervene in the decision making process.

Am I the only one who thinks that LeBron hasn't earned all of this power? People marching in the streets for him, making up songs, one coach fired (Even though he did a great job) and other coaches rumored to be fired? He hasn't even come close to winning a championship yet. I know he hasn't had the team around him, but still, he just hasn't won it. To me, he doesn't deserve all this.

That's just me though.

No way DW gives in to a request to bring in Cal. I could see a tough decision being made if it was Phil Jax, but I don't see Lebron making such a bold move coming in the door. What would that say about DW? Who would really be in charge if you give to such a request? I don't see it happening in year one. If they fail to win under MDA then I see a move being made. But do you really see this team not winning big if we add Lebron?

The Cavs haven't, but otherwise I agree. LeBron doesn't deserve the power he has yet. You get power from winning championships. Kobe, Shaq, TD have earned it. Not LeBron yet.

I agree that LeBron doesn't deserve that power and I am not sure that he wants it. However, I do think that there are teams that would give him that power if he signed with them. I don't think Walsh would unless he was pushed by Dolan.

Why not? Jordan never been to a finals before he requested that Collins be replace right before his contract year. Magic demanded a trade only after two years in the league if Westhead wasn't fired. Ewing did the same with Hubie Brown when Brown suggested he play the PF position. Shaq revolted against Stan Van Gundy his first season with the Heat. I mean what would it say about Walsh? It would say that he is basically like any other GM that has been in the league. His concerns would be about doing what is best for his team and not an individual coach who let's face it doesn't carry weight in the NBA. Star players have the pull in this league not coaches.

I don't think Walsh fires D'Antoni. That being said the guy is 61-103 as the Knick coach and has created a lot of unnecessary drama and devalued assets while in NY. Walsh has been extremely loyal to D'Antoni but in my opinion he is Walsh's biggest mistake. Walsh has defended and protected D'Antoni but I don't think he expected the drama, the losing or the first round picks not playing this year. If Walsh is looking for a way to move on without looking like an a-hole this might give him the opportunity.

A) Lebron is not going to demand that MDA leaves
B) If he did, I think it is a no brainer that you fire MDA. I have not been all that impressed with MDA anyway, so if LBJ wants him gone, then I would let him walk. But again, Lebron is not going to do that because he is concerned about his image. He would more likely say no to New York without giving a reason, before he told Walsh fire MDA and I will come there.

It would depend on who Lebron wants as the replacement. I am not tethered to MDA, but I would never give Lebron that much power unless the replacement were Jax, Rivers, Riley. Or maybe Lebron wants to be the player-coach? I would not do that either.

But I seriously doubt Lebron wants any such thing.

What drama? He benched Marbury until the team decided he should be away from the Knicks, which I agreed with. He gave Nate a desperately needed benching, which he responded VERY WELL to. I agreed with that too. We've had either players who were injured, growing slowly or just simply don't play defense, yet we find a way to blame that on Mike. I'd say give Mike a shot to do what he was brought here to do. If we don't even get a free agent, THAT might be a different story, because then we're going to have to run a different route. That's not really MDAs fault though.

Lebron isn't gonna come in the door having not played one game in a Knick uniform and demand a coaching change!!! In all the cases sited MJ n Magic played under the coach they had replaced. I would expect the same in our case. He's gonna play under MDA before he forms an opinion.

The whole reason why this doesn't make sense is that, it wouldn't fly in the locker room. If im on the team I mind as well listen to Labron instead of the coach.

What respectable franchise is going to let one player dictate who should be fired and how you run the organization, obviously a player of his status has some say in a few things, but at the end of the day, you have to keep the rotational guys happy as much as possible.

The cal/LBj packaged was classified as here say and nothing more
