this is the guy you want next to Lee for the next 5 years. He doesnt have the big hype of some other guys. If he is there at pick 16 I would def move Chandler to Sota to get him. I like Chandler alot but wings are easier to replace. The guy would be great in an uptempo system

i'm all for going after larry sanders but i don't think we have to move all the way up to pick 16 to get him. we should be able to get him in the 21-24 range.

Larry Sanders better be a combo of Dennis Rodman/Dikembe Mutombo/Charles Oakley if he's going to cover David Lee's soft and lazy ass on D.

If he could be had at 21, we might be able to buy number 25 frim the Wizzies and package it with our late 2nd rounder to move up a few slots.

dont trust the draft sites. His measurements were off the charts. He strong and insanely long. He can play the uptempo game right away. He's not a skilled offensive player but he's not retarded either. Hell... if JJ could be an impact player Larry Sanders can help right away. He could be a rotation guy right out of the box.

I think he might even go before 16. Someone is going to be smitten with him. This guy and Luke Babbit are the guys who are going to go from fringe first rounders to fringe lottery. Watch

i don't doubt his ability to fit within the miked system - he should be a shoe-in. the only thing i worry about him is his frame - he's gotta put weight on and you just never know how that's going to work out. hopefully donnie is doing his homework on this guy, unlike alot of other people, i'm very comfortable with donnie and if he moves up for this kid, it must be a good reason.

you're right though, i can see some gm being smitten with him and taking him about 10 picks too early - i cant see donnie doing that though.

I think he would be a nice pick up. Although I would still like a 7' big man he is close enough and he has a pretty good wing span is athletic. Draft measurements:
Player Height With Weight Wingspan Standing Body Fat
Larry Sanders 6-9.25 6-10.5 222 7-5.75 9-4 4.6

Other players I would consider trading up for or taking with the second round picks:
Whiteside, Alabi and Art Parakhouski with the Knicks second round pick(Gortat type player).

he's got a good frame, a powerful frame. He's very strong. He's a lot like Camby became later in his career. Very wirey but very strong also. He's a strong althetic guy with a 7'6 wingspan.

He's got a 9'4 standing reach.

By comparison:
9'5: Shaq
9'5: Brook Lopez
9'5: Thabeet
9'4: Greg Oden
9'4: Larry Sanders
9'3.5: Dwight Howard
9'2.5: Bogut
9'2.5: Chris Kaman
9'2.5: OK4
9'2: Alrdige
9'2: Tyson Chandler

We need a guy with that kind of length up front

damn, im surprised howards standing reach is only 9'3.5 - not like it matters, but i woulda figured he'd be tops on that list.

His leaping ability makes up for that easily.

He's like 3 inches shorter that Shaq, yet his standing reach is only an inch and a half shorter. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

"In closing I am going to let what that tool of a sportswriter Bob Ryan had to say about Alabi after the 2009 ACC tournament get you all hot and bothered for this guy:

'Mark this name down: Solomon Alabi. He may very well be the next great thing. What we are talking about is 7-feet of astonishing young grace, agility and sheer athleticism. He is not just a dunker. He has a face-up jumper, a nice little jump hook and he can even put it on the floor a little. But what is so great about him is that every shot he takes looks like it is supposed to go in. When he first went to the foul line against Boston College on the night of February 24 I naturally assumed it would be a brickerama. Hah! He went eight-for-eight, swishes all. I’m sitting there going ‘Omigod, what is this?’ Yes, I am going to hit him with the dreaded ‘P’ word. His potential is enormous. Of course, he has a lot to learn. He needs to rebound more consistently, and he just needs playing time. He came to the USA in 2005, hoping to find an institution where he could develop his English and become a basketball player. He is said to be very intelligent and he is obviously a hard worker. Best of all, this game looks like it all makes sense to him. So I have seen the future of Bigs and its name is Solomon Alabi.'"
