Oh, I see, it was Chaney's fault Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway had no clue where to go on defense or how to provide help. Their teammates were thoroughly thrown out of sync.

"We were constantly looking over our shoulder to see if they were in the right spots," Allan Houston underlined. "It takes time to learn our system and build trust."

Marbury was flat out lost. "I've never been associated with anything like the defense the Knicks play," he told me.

Oh, I see, it was Chaney's fault the Knicks' odious offensive display set hockey ahead 20 years.

Introduce a new starting center, forward or shooting guard in the lineup and key adjustments must be made. Import a playmaker, especially one as complex to decode as Marbury (the Suns were still trying to get attuned in year three), and everything and everyone must undergo a major modification.

"Stephon doesn't know where each of us wants the ball, where our favorite places to get it are," Houston noted. "We were successful recently [four-game win streak] with everyone touching the ball and now we've got a guy who's used to dominating it. We need lots of communication and court time to work this out, no question."

I told you, some guys on this site need somebody to hate and the majority in this case is obviously WRONG!

it's not about that game. It's about how we will never win with Chaney as our head coach.

Yep. Exactly! Cannot look at it just for 1 or 2 games like he does. You have to look at it long term. He always misused Frank Williams and Deke benching them in critical moments so its obvious that he will not be able to handle it when provided with talent anyway.

Even if given talented players, Chaney could never lead is past 1st round of the playoffs when we can go much farther.

Seems to me if penny has one good game or starbury then it carreies some merit, but if chaney wins a game it's only considered one game. LOOK AT YOURSELVES.

Let's see what goes down after that Dallas game. For all we know, another trade can happen within the next 24-48 hours...

Chaney is coaching with a the proverbial "gun to his head" right now... I bet he'll make those 3-hour practices the norm just ot win games and try to save his job.

The problem I have with him is that why did it have to get to the point where his job was in jeopardy for him to do this in the first place?? A coach that can only make proper play and sub strategies under these condiitons can't possibly get the most out of his players- most of his energy is focused more on damage control.

Win or lose in the next few games, Chaney does need to go, for the good of the team.

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Wow Playa, now you are gonna ride Jeff Van Gundys sack just because he said something good about Chaney?

It isn't his fault that Steph and Penny were lost in the first 2 games, they are new players and hadnt practiced. Game 3 was a little different now wasn't it? It still doesnt change the fact that Chaney is a questionable head coach.

For someone who claims to be a Knick fan you sure have been questionable yourself since Thomas took over as GM. Before the Knicks couldnt even get into the headlines unless it was about how awful they were - now there is good PR buzz and people are excited about their direction now...and all you can do is talk bad about them. Who deserves a black eye for that?

I think Thomas needs to stabilize this team. Changing the system with a new coach form the outside may be tramatic. Firing Chaney if it is not his fault players don't know where to go could create a deep mistrust of Thomas if done too soon.

Laydog may have really tied his hands with whom to play and whom to sit. The current rotation may be all Thomas's input and may not make sense to us "fickle" fans.

If a change is needed to make the playoffs as the team stops playing for Chaney, then promote Malone to at least finish the season and keep the system with some tweeks.

If its Thomas setting the rotation then it is not Chaneys fault.

We will never make it to the promise land with Chaney, its just a matter of when to do it. It may serve the team to wait than do it now.

Adding to the talent base is still the most important goal for this franchise.

I seriously doubt that Layden told Chaney not to play the players he drafted.

If Thomas is setting the rotation, than Chaney should be fired because until Thomas was hired, Frank Williams had a hard time getting PT even though he was their best PG.

When the Media hints Chaney will be fired and its only a matter of when must be the smoke signal for Zeke to fulfill his duty.

Unless Chaney is out to prove differently why he should not be fired
