Grizzlies Could Deal First-Round Picks
More Grizzlies News

May 19, 2010 7:33 AM EST

The Grizzlies own the No. 12, No. 25 and No. 28 picks in next month's NBA Draft, but they are open to dealing.

Memphis got the 25th and 28th picks from Denver and the Los Angeles Lakers, respectively.

"We'll be trying to trade from now through the draft," team owner Michael Heisley said. "If we can get an impact player, we might trade all three of (the picks). If we can't do that, then we hope to use those three picks to get an impact player."

Anyone know how that works cap wise. I know it has been done in the past. Would this kind of deal leave the Knicks with the ability to sign two FAs. Regardless of draft picks I think the Knicks main priority is still getting LBJ and another FA.

we'd get a TPE as well as the picks --- we'd have the salaries of the picks roughly 4.25mm on the cap and we could trade or sell the 2's

If they can absorb his deal, we could make the trade- but they already have an all star PF and likely are talking about not being able to resign Rudy Gay.

what player we taking back? They dont have cap space. Neither do we for that matter... at least not until FA period starts.

We should just offer them $3mm for 25 and 28. That only eats about $1.5mm of our cap for 2 guys. With those 4 picks we could really build the underside of our roster. Sign a max guy, resign Lee and here we go.

David Lee isnt going to Memphis.

Chandler and Walker for Gay and a 1st rounder seems fair.
