Knicks forward Wilson Chandler was busted on a pot possession charge after cops pulled him over last night in Queens, police said.

Chandler, who turned 23 last week, was carrying what was described as a "small amount" of marijuana when cops pulled over the 2010 Mercedes-Benz he was riding in near 94th Avenue and 213th Street in Queens at 11:30 p.m., police said.

Cops decided to search Chandler after they smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle, police said. Chandler was issued a desk appearance ticket for the misdemeanor charge.

Chandler missed the final month of the season because of a strained groin; He is scheduled to undergo a sports hernia surgery and will need six to eight weeks to recover. Chandler was drafted by the Knicks in 2007.

Which is ridiculous. It's freaking pot. It's 2010, who cares?

From Ill Will to Chill Will, eh?

He seems like a nice respectful kid and all, but he isn't a building block, IMO. He can be a real nice role player. But he is injured way too often despite being built lke a tank. He requires surgery every off season. And to me he js that Lamar Odom coasting vibe that will prevent him from reaching his full potential.

Sergio, if DLee got busted you'd go on about how his stoned ass be distracted and why he not playing defense!

Its only weed but its a banned substance, illegal whether you like it or not, and as per league rules and agreed by the Union there are consequences.

Its not like he is gonna go "Plaxico" on this or anything serious but them are the rules. He is free to end his employment with the Knicks and the NBA and do what ever the hell he wants but he willing prescribes to be an employee and by his own free will the conditions to employment.

I agree especially with this last sentence he seems to be quickly approaching his ceiling.

Also how stupid can you be lighting up in a brand new benz while driving in Queens? Use some common and sense if your going to light up do it at home while NOT driving.

cause I like MaryJane as much as the next guy but thats a pretty juvenile statement. Its illegal. If your going to do that you simply have to be smarter. Chandler is a pro athlete in the NBA. You don't think this impacts his trade value? Potentially his contract at the end of the year? Any chance of endorsements?

Its stupid on Chandler's part.

The best was when Marbury was in the back of a car smoking a bone when his driver hit somthing.
Marbury at least was showing a great responsabilty by not driving. Im sure he thought the NBA would be impressed.

Before long the path to ruin is laid as you go on camera and dance with shaving cream on your body and start eating vasaline over the intenet.

Does wonders for your marketability.

Fair enough. I agree it was VERY stupid of Wilson Chandler to do this while driving - especially in Queens. But I honestly don't think this has any impact at all. Chandler has been a good soldier his entire career and this was one little mistake. I personally wouldn't take it too seriously.

I hope your right, but there is a definatly a culture/image problem with this stuff in the NBA. I agree with you as well, it shouldnt matter, but it does, and Chandler should know that.

Oh please. I so sick of this let me criticize without coming off as a hypocrite mentality in this country lately. Smoking a bud shouldn't even muster a response anymore. Hell Chandler you're on your way to being President one day. Good for you. Although, I will say the last two POTUS have upped the ante.

I'm sorry I missed the part where he tested positive for a banned substance.

Were the cops stopping Wilson for DWB? Or DNC?

DWB = Driving while black
DNC = Driving nice car

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I know it was in his car but you got to explain to be how he will be suspended for it. Suspension is testing positive. Not arrests of possession because it doesn't represent a conviction. That why Sheed wasn't. That's why the Big Chief wasn't.
