I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this one yet, but this came out of one of today's msg articles by steve popper.

WHO’S NEXT?

The Knicks defended their coach, but are on pins and needles concerning their own status. A rumor made its way through the arena during the game that a deal for Rasheed Wallace had been completed. Not today, but no one seemed to believe that it couldn’t happen by tomorrow.

I think the latest deal i heard for Wallace was Van Horn, Sweetney, and Doleac for him. This would be good because it makes Williams and Harrington still available for someone like Miles or Gooden.

You know what!! you could be right cause im watching the Bulls/Trailblazer game and Rasheed isn't there.

As a matter of face, he's not even starting.. Could this mean he has been traded to the Knicks????

he is not playing and before the games the announcers didn't seem to know why, there was no official injury or anything like that...
I am watching the game now on satellite..

The problem is the Knicks could trade for him, and Chaney would sit him for half of the 4th quarter.

Whats up everyone, my first time posting here...I love what everyone brings to the board, its good stuff

Anyways I had to register and post because on a message board in portland they are all saying ESPN Radio out there has confirmed that Rasheed is being traded and that the details will surface tomorrow. One source claims it is Dikembe and KVH for Sheed and Q-Woods. Maybe its not the most relaible of sources but Ill send you guys the link for the message board:

I'm glad Frank Williams is not involved because we are gonna need him. I wonder if him and Marbury has been going at it in todays' practice.

I guess we'll find out what the deal is regarding that trade in the morning- if it's gonna happen.

Hopefully we'll hear similar good nows about Chaney's firing then, too.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I like the Motombu and KVH for Wallace and Q Woods deal. Wallace can play center in a run and gun Knicks led by Steph. Q Woods has got the potential to be the next Jermaine O'Neal, as in next great player Portland couldn't wate enough to develop. This would also mean no Miles, and that is good just by itself as Miles sucks. Good point Playa, its nice to keep Williams, he is a gresy chip. We can possibly use him in a trade for another athletic big guy who can play both C and PF, somebody like Kwame Brown or Wilcox, as both the Wizards and the Cips need a PG badly. Or we can just start FW and Marbury in a backourt as FW has shown he can d up 2's better then Houston even. This would allow us to rest Houston who is clearly not himself, he has no proper lift on his legs, he is bricking open shots by a dezen.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Yeah i definitely think there something close to happening but i think it's taking some time because i wouldn't be surprised if they trying to get a 3rd and maybe even a 4th team involved. Thats whats probably taking this so long. If there were a 3rd team, my guess is cleveland is involved. I bet they would part with Z and Miles if they got Van Horn and Williams and maybe some other guys. I'm not surprised if by tomorrow we have both Wallace and Miles which would be great. As much as everyone likes Williams, now is the time to trade him. The knicks are set with Marbury and Norris so theres no need for any changes at point. If the knicks just end up dealing with Portland straight up, i would like to see Van Horn, Sweetney, and Doleac sent for Rasheed. Thats the latest deal that is most beneficial for new york. The one posted in this thread is good too, but leaves us questionable at center. Still, having Thomas and Wallace up front isn't bad. And Thomas could be sent for Camby at anytime. I would love the first deal to happen though. Then we turn around and send Williams and Harrington to Cleveland for Miles and a second round pick. That leaves us stacked with swingmen, but so talented. I hope something happens soon.

Also Rasheed has not dressed for tonight's game. I've heard nothing on whether or not he's in the arena. It's kinda weird how suddenly out of nowhere he is DNP due to a sore ankle or something. It's also weird that it's been announced he has been placed on the IR due to the injury and yet is listed as day-to-day. All signs point to a deal very close to happening.

The Knicks' new boss was attempting to make Rasheed Wallace a Knick, but talks with Portland broke down yesterday and the Blazers' bad-boy power forward appeared headed to Dallas as part of a package for Antawn Jamison, sources said.

Thomas' bid for Wallace is futile since, according to a league executive familiar with the Blazers' thinking, Keith Van Horn's maximum contract needed to be part of the package to get the salaries to add up to Wallace's $17 million.



"Keith is the only player [Portland] could get and become a worse team defensively," the league executive said. "There is no deal with them. If they take Keith for his two more years, they might as well just pay Rasheed."

In addition, Blazers GM John Nash, who had the same position with the Nets when John Calipari made the call to draft Van Horn, knows too well the forward's deficiencies.
