And now that we have listed the players that will populate the open market, let's take a quick look at the teams that will have the most money to play with this summer.
This following data is based on the salary cap being set at $56.1 million. (It also assumes the most likely scenarios for each organization – i.e. Eddy Curry won't opt out of the final year of his deal which pays him a whooping $11.3 million; and the Knicks will exercise Bill Walker's $854k team option.)
New York Knicks - $18.6 million in projected 2010 salary commitments
Maximum Possible Cap Space: $37.5 Million (Keep in mind that each of these teams will have to account for a certain number of minimum salary cap holds, thus they won't be able to spread the total cap space amount amongst just a few select players.)
New Jersey Nets - $25.9 million in projected 2010 salary commitments
