It is so obvious that the NBA is heavily manipulated. Against teams like the Lakers or Cavs the opposing team has to play so good that they nullify the officiating in order to win. Also you can see a dramatic change in officiating when teams look like they are going to have a short series. In San Antonio the other night Dragic basically beat the Spurs + the refs.

I have loved this post season. They have severely cracked down on the superstar calls. During the season breathing on star players is a foul.

really? I challenge you to actually watch the game as ref next time. Count how many traveling calls are missed with a ref 3 feet away...or better yet, or the phantom fouls.

The NBA is a joke...I agree with Seb, in a about a year or two, this is all going to come down like Canseco and Baseball.

In 120 minutes LeBron has had only three fouls called on him. That right there is superstar treatment. While Dwight Howard can't even get out of the way of being called for a foul. The fix has been on for sometime Lakers always have to be good or the LA fans would be like rats off a sinking ship its good for the NBA that the Lakers are good hence the team with the multiple superstars. Always with superstars list is just to long. Forget the fact that teams always do them favors which leads me to believe that the League owners are actually alright with Lakers being good all the time. The Knicks on one hand are the League equivalent to a bailout. Knicks team is where bad contracts go to die, MSG building is near capacity even when the Knicks suck so they can take the role of a team that can handle the leagues salary mistakes.

There is nothing straight forward about the NBA it is a fishy league at best. It will always be because lets face it the league is close knit network that needs all teams to do well financially it benefits everyone and ensures the continuity of the entity. It benefits the League to have LeBron in a high profile place not Cleveland that is why he is going to end up somewhere else eventually. The Lakers will always be good once Kobe is done they will replace him with another superstar faster than the Knicks could ever replace Ewing that is a guarantee. If LeBron resigns with Cavs you can almost write it down he will be taking over Kobe's thrown.

I prefer no calls then constantly blowing the whistle for BS calls. Of course the stars might get an extra step here and there or the benefit of the doubt but it is definitely toned down from the previous years.

The NBA should be applauded for recently adopting instant replay into the game. Advances in technology should one day make refs, and their human biases, obsolete.

Football refs are the best. Man they catch almost everything at a 95% rate.

Basketball is admittedly the hardest game to officiate...and I've seen the NFL refs blow their share of calls.

But with the NBA, there seems to be a clear and consistent agenda year after year. The Kings/Lakers debacle really opened my eyes. I've never seen a professional sporting game so obviously fixed. Since, the evidence has mounted.

I've brought this up an untold number of times.

The NBA shapes games and gives certain players leeway and the teammates of those players leeway.


Anyone who thinks Bruce Bowen shouldn't have fouled out of every game 6 minutes into the first quarter of any said game is an idiot. Given he was Tim "Look at him wrong and he will shoot FTs" Duncan's bodyguard the guy was allowed to trip, hold, grab, punch, kick, injure... anyone he wanted all game long. Dude was a SCRUB on the cHeat and suddenly he's a DPOY on the Spurs? Yeah, whatever....

This is not a professional sport. It is a rigged, shaped, marketed, mess of an entertainment venue and nothing more.

The funny thing is when things like the Celtics blowing out the Cavs last night despite the fact that in the 1st Q the refs gave EVERYTHING TO THE CAVS wanting them to win...and then they get blown out anyway...just exposes this mess even more.

Why do I still watch? For entertainment. Years ago I knew this was a shaped league. It's full of scripted crap. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention.

YOU are right. the games aren't fixed but, more like manipulated. We've all seen it...just look at the difference in the calls Dwight picked up in round 1 vs what is being called in round

Since Donaghy said that the Lakers-Cavs was what the NBA wanted and the fix is in. Sterns now will purposely change the season outcome to say Laker-Magic or Lakers-celtics just to prove that the NBA is not rigged and Donaghy doesn't know what he is talking about. Sterns could pull a rabbit out of the hat and send the Suns to the finals.
