Rondo wouldve gotten a max deal with all of the money out there--Boston was smart that locked him up.

What use would Rondo have been to us? He's not a SF.

If Zeke drafts Rondo and Bynum and doesnt trade for Curry, he's still here.

And if he doesn't trade for jalen rose. And stevie franchise, and mastermind the larry brown fiasco, and let marbury and his cousins run wild over the franchise, and call anucha brown A bitch . . . .

Quit trying to rationalize zeke. The guy's a f'g joke.

Why are you catching feelings? Calm down, duke. All I'm saying is that if he would have made those moves we would have had our PG/center combo for the next ten years and he would probably still be here. You put some pieces around those two and the Knicks would have been a problem!

Jalen Rose and Steve Francis? Those were relatively minor deals. Besides, wasnt Ariza in Larry Brown's doghouse and he was the one that pushed for that Francis trade? And nobody would have cared about a Anucha Brown if the Knicks were winning. Ya'll got a grudge against Zeke that bad that you think he would have sexually harassed something that looked like that?

Yup. I believe it. And so did a jury of his peers.

I don'"t go for the bs revisionist history view of zeke. In the same way that I don't go for it with laydumb. They both f'd up the franchise that I love and the sooner they were both gone the better.

this is like one of those logic fallacies. I'm too lazy to think of which one it is exactly.

How does one claim equate to the other?

You say I'm engaging in revisionist history --- what revisionist history? All I'm saying is that if Zeke would have made better personnel decisions, he'd probably still be here. Money and success talks over everything. You can debate that to a certain extent, whether the Anucha case would have been enough to derail him regardless of how good the Knicks may have been, but nowhere am I claiming that he wasnt a complete failure. Its just a hypothetical scenario.

I have to admit I never thought Rondo would be this good. I thought he had freakish athletic ability but I questioned whether he could lead a team and develop a dependable shot. I thought he was great last playoffs and he's showing he's for real. Yeah we couldve used a kid like this but I doubt he would've developed here with the lack of leadership in the lockerroom. Boston was perfect for him. KG, PP and Allen!

I just got finished last week shooting down someone’s contention that layden would have been a success IF ONLY he hadn’t had “bad luck” on the mcdyess trade – totally ignoring the eisleys, shandersons, erik stricklands, etc. - in addition to the mcdyess-camby-nene deal through which layden hung himself.

Now I’m hearing that that zeke would have been a success if ONLY he hadn’t committed the particular blunders of the eddy curry, balkman and channing frye deals – which were cluster-fks enough themselves –but leaving out the dozen other stupid-ass personnel, management and fiscal moves he made that contributed to his writing his own ticket the hell out of here- i call bs.

I don't get the Zeke argument. That's like saying Jerry West would have sucked as a GM if he didn't sign Shaq and draft Kobe, which would probably be true.

The point is Zeke DID make those moves and they blew. So what exactly is the argument? Also, it was more than just those moves. Marbury, Malik, Taylor, Crawford, etc. 95% of his transactions sucked.

I think Zeke could have been a great GM if it weren't for Dolan.

If Dolan told Zeke he had five years to build the team the best way he saw fit to, do you think any of the bad trades would have been made?

He did say he would have taken Bynum, but felt Frye could contribute right away.

It is possible he would have made the bad trades anyway because he would have himself wanted to win right away.

But he made awful trades, bad FA signings, but his draft picks were excellent. I'd argue some of the best by a GM over the same period of time.

Interesting alternative universe speculation.

Pretty decent bookends for a team to build around.

Do people realize how bad Rondo would look on this team?

- No Jumper
- Bad free throw shooter
- suspect PG skills up until 2 yrs ago

Seriously the guy would have been traded a LONG time ago just like Channing Frye was.

Took some time to develop, and yes, his shooting can be frustrating to watch, but to me he is one of those intangible players, who has developed into a winner.

In his case, the "whole is greater than the sup of its parts."

I did not really consider him the year he was drafted, but you have to say that he has done a bit better than some expected from him.

No??
