Spurs get Chandler who Pop would love. He defends, can play 2/3/4, plays hurt, works hard, and would save the Spurs $13mm next year. More if you count the luxury tax.
I think these are the kinds of options we should look at if we swing and miss on the big FAs
Now you want to trade Chandler. Come on Fish this is against you belief. Why not just trade Chandler for Hassan Whiteside sign Bosh or resign Lee and make a run for LeBron. If LeBron doesn't come keep cap space and go with next year for Melo.
Line up:
Douglass g
LeBron sg
Whiteside C
Bosh pf
Gallo sf.
I hate to give up Chandler this team needs size on the front court with out size they are going the same route as an undersized team. Can't have undersized it catches up to a team quickly just look at Jazz and the way the Lakers are taking it to them do to size factor.
I dont want to trade Chandler. Not even a little. Chandler is a good player I believe in. However IF we arent getting a big star free agent this summer we need to build this roster out and Chandler has value. Chandler will also be eligible for an extension after next year. So if we are going to try to build this roster up and wait until 2011 for a max free agent then using Chandler as a key trade piece makes sense.
Chandler is way more valuable than Hasson Whiteside. Its not even close. Chandler is an NBA player who can play and guard multiple positions. He's a pro, he plays hurt, he scores, rebounds and defends. Chandler is a key rotation player on a good team. Whiteside may or may not become an NBA player. Guys build like him have never had much staying power, and dont tell me Garnett who has PG like skills as a skinny 7 footer. Anthony Randolph cant stay on the court.
I love Chandler. If I trade Chandler I want a pick AND a prospect back. I'm not trading Chandler for mid first round prospect.
