I don't know about you guys but I cannot take another year of David the Doorman Lee playing Center. It ruins the entire defense. Donnie Walsh MUST acquire a legit starting Center who can anchor the defense and clog the middle. Especially if they commit suicide and re-sign The Doorman. These are the only realistic options I see Walsh and Mike D'Antoni considering ...

Brendan Haywood - Best available free agent Center. Born in New York. 30 years old. Not sure why he lost his starting job to that bum Erick Dampier. Haywood is a very tough interior defender who can get you a double-double and 2 blocks per game. Will probably cost $8-$10M.

Jermaine O'Neal - Walsh connection. Having a terrible Playoff series. On the decline but he can still block a shot here and there. Will probably cost around $5-$7M.

Channing Frye - You know D'Antoni will push for him. Frye is the ideal SSOL Center. But he's toilet paper soft and not an interior defender. Will probably cost around $5-$7M.

Brad Miller - Wish he were younger. Still a good passer and can hit a jumper. Should come cheap around $1.5-$3M.

This is assuming we re-sign The Doorman, who would be the best fit at Center? Any other ideas?

1) Tyson Chandler
2) trade ECurry for Biedrins
3) Tyrus Thomas

I think Walsh is on record for saying he does not want DLee playing Center. Im sure Dlee does not want to guard Shaq or DHoward.

Channing Frye Besides Dlee is not a good idea if your trying to shore up interior defense. Jermain O'neal at 5-7mil would make the McGrady trade a disaster. The Guy is cooked. Brad Miller is a decent Idea but he can't really go starter minutes.

I love the "Born in NY" thing like its a real plus. Michael Jordan was Born in NYC. Do you ever associate any Michael Jordan attributes to fact his mother delivered him inside one of the borough's? Jordan numerous times could have orchestrated a move here. That whole mecca thing is great as long as your getting the big money.

Brandan Haywood grew up and graduated high school in Greensboro, NC. I guess the Bobcats have the Inside track on that one.

Haywood would be a good role player but Im not sure about the money. 8-10 mil is big. ONly for a two year contract.

Dalembert can be had for nothing. Just gotta eat some cap on that one. He is what he is.

why would Frye ever leave Phoenix? he's doing the same thing he's always done and he's being praised for it there as opposed to slammed for it. he's too soft to be the starting center. in phoenix he backs up Robin Lopez and shoots wide open jumpers courtesy of Steve Nash. i can't see Frye leaving.

I wouldn't be all that upset if we brought back Kurt Thomas. The guy still plays great defense and will get you 8pts 8rbs for $3 million.

TT isn't going anywhere. That $6 option is going to be great value. Donnie should have moved AL for TT when he had the chance. Would have allowed us to resign Lee at 10 and TT at 6. And maybe even get a vet for the minimum on a two year deal.

HOw about doing it with the Suns offense Jedi Master MDA as OBI Won, and doing it for MORE MONEY?

Not interested in Kurt Thomas at this point. I'd take Haywood though. It would instantly put Lee back at PF and that's a pretty stable frontcourt. I wouldn't overpay though. He is a role player afterall.

Is it me, or does this Summer wreak of the same Summer when we signed Jerome James b/c we "needed a center."

Obi Won is old and past his prime, Frye has Luke Skywalker feeding him passes right now. He's like, "Son! There is another."

Jermaine O'neal = FINISHED
Brad Miller = FINISHED

Have you seen these guys int he playoffs? It makes me sad when I see how fast some of these guys fall off. Jermaine O'neal and Miller used to be nasty. Sucks to get old.

We should go after Dalembert.
No to Brad Ma Ma Miller.

Agree on Tyrus Thomas and Tyson Chandler. I like Haywood but not sure if he is a god fit in NY since he is not athletic enough.

13-f**king-million dollars for tyson chandler for next year???? he is a HORRIBLE player.

tyrus thomas i am extremely unimpressed with. but at 6M i could see it possibly being worth a shot. gotta wonder though how much mda would be interested in playing him.

I say if the knicks get bosh they should go after frye at center, but if they sign no D lee then they should trade for ok4 or dalembart.

why do you post this? Is GS down on him? They just resigned him... if that deal had a fart's chance in a wind how do you not do that? stick the long athletic mobile guy next to Lee and add some perimeter guys and your rolling. Hell... I might even take Maggette's contract back (I hate him) if I could get a pick or something back. But straight up? Why would GS do that?

What does anyone know about Tiago Splitter? Supposedly the best center in Europe. San Antonio has the rights to him. Not sure if they would be willing to part. From what I read, he would be a great hustle defender. Not sure how much it would cost or how the Knicks would get the rights from the Spurs.

Besides Haywood, I would happen to agree, and even he's really nothing special. Not a game changer. Just a role player who can play some defense. If the Knicks give him 10 million, it would be awful.

they're extremely down on him. nellie didn't play him at all this year, even when he was healthy. nellie said repeatedly it looked like he'd lost all desire and gave him no minutes. it'd be a gamble and i'd want to see him healthy, but i think biedrins can be had.

it offers them the chance to get out from under his deal for eddy's expiring.

you could expand the deal to be Biedrins + CJ Watson for Eddy Curry + Wilson Chandler. gives the Warriors a SF and an escape from the Biedrins commitment which they clearly no longer want. I bet Nellie wants to play Turiaf and Anthony Randolph as his bigs next year.

When I hear "Lose all desire" I instantly think of Eddie Curry, and that's a gigantic red flag waving in front of my face.

The voice of reason. I have yet to see TT play as good as his "athletic" reputation would suggest.
