Ok, we all know Ru-Paul is soft... but compared to Lee? Neither is Charles Oakley, but not many people in this league are. I don't think you can disagree that Bosh is the more skilled player. Most people are questioning whether he is $6-7M more talented.
I am coming to the conclusion that I might want Amare more than Bosh. Mostly since Amare has been on a tear lately. In any event, I think you have to prioritize the players based on skill and salary.
So, Lee at $8M is better than Bosh at $17M. But at some point, it becomes a question of how many max talents can you put on the floor and let them make the people around them better (whether through contagious D, drawing double teams, spreading the floor, excellent passing, etc...). I don't think anyone is saying there is no place on any team for Lee, I am saying that, unfortunately, he is consolation prize. Next to Lebron, everyone else is a consolation prize. If you miss out on Bron, I think you need both Wade and Bosh or Amare to be a playoff contender. After that, I hope we don't end up with Joe Johnson and David Lee. We would have been just as good with Crawford and Randolph.
oh... no buts about it, I 100% want Amare period. I think you put him and Lee up front and get a playmaker and we jump to 45-50 wins. Then you still have Curry's expiring to get a good player, or take a bad contract attached with a pick or prospects.
Still... I would do the same thing w/ Bosh as a plan B.
There is no I dont bring Lee back, unless I am signing a combo of 2 of these: Lebron, Wade, Amare.
You can complain about Amare's defense but his scoring in the post is nasty and he attacks the basket.
For me, Lee at $9mm + $8mm of other FAs is much better than Bosh at $17mm
Bosh hasnt carried bad teams. You sub Lee for Bosh on this team and how many more wins to do we get?
