At least that's what Isola says, but he could also be pulling stuff outta his ass.

MULLING MULLIN: Walsh accompanied the team to Canada to get one final close-up look at his players and the support staff. There are rumblings that Walsh, concluding his second full season as Knicks president, will look to make a few changes to the organization. That's if Garden chairman James Dolan will allow him.

Walsh is happy with his basketball operations staff but he would also like to install former Golden State Warriors general manager Chris Mullin as the Knicks' GM. According to a source, Dolan has yet to sign off on the proposed move. There is also talk of the Knicks hiring a defensive coach. It has even been reported that the Knicks may take a run at Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau, a former Knicks assistant under Jeff Van Gundy and Don Chaney.

When he was coaching the Suns three years ago, D'Antoni rejected the idea of adding Thibodeau to his staff when it was suggested to him by Phoenix GM Steve Kerr. Thibodeau eventually landed with the Celtics, who won the title that season. Historically, Walsh allows his coach to pick his staff but he may take a more active role this summer in light of the Knicks being one of the NBA's worst defensive teams during D'Antoni's two seasons.

Mullin again?

Whatever for?

The guy is a hack of a GM. We have John Gabriel and we have Allan Houston. Neither are worse than Mully.

Dolan has been right to not let Walsh do EVERYTHING he wants. How many frickin GMs do we need anyway? Walsh clearly wants to step aside already. He did his job. He was the fall guy. He wiped out Isiah's frat party and restored order and maturity to the franchise. He did what no one else wanted to do the past 10 years: Tear down the Knicks and ignore getting roasted for doing so.

Now he wants to just fade away into his coveted advisory role.

This is fine and I understand this. But MULLIN!? Oh good god no.

Also, Chandler again? Jeez....this is getting old.

TORONTO - Despite not being physically fit for most of the season, Wilson Chandler quietly - he knows no other way - performed above expectations.

A painful groin injury eventually knocked him out for good in March, and now it appears that his surgically repaired left ankle also hampered the Knicks' shooting guard/small forward. According to a team source, Chandler might need surgery to remove scar tissue from his ankle. Last June, Chandler had surgery to remove bone spurs.

No decision on Chandler will be made until after Tuesday night's season finale against Toronto. If surgery is required, the procedure will not keep Chandler sidelined for an extended period of time.

Hiring Tom Thibodeau would almost be like signing a MAX FA.

If our summer goes according to plan where we sign a Star wing scorer and a big, I would look to trade Wilson Chandler for a PG.

there's alot of rumors circulating that doc rivers is going to be stepping down as the celtics coach after this year.. if that's the case, i see the celtics promoting thibodeau to head coach.

Its logical, but if it does not happen then Thibo's gonna bolt.

One thing about mully, as with other GM's is they learn thru experience. He will a differnt owner and structure than he did in GS. I don't care about his NY past. That makes him a more visable celeb, which sells tickets btw, but Im Ok with guys who have some mixed results. Makes them better. He did some smart things in GS and as we know they have a meddling owner. If ours has learned his lesson and stays away perhaps Mully with Walsh gets things done. If Mully has a good cred with the current players and agents it can only help.

Would have prefered to have had him in his prime wearing a knick uniform! He could play. Mully had stiff legs too, Gallo might want to watch his fundamentals. Mully got it done on the court.

but he wouldn't count against the cap :)

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

sounds good but, why would Thibs leave Boston. Just bring in Fratello as an assistant since he's free

I would love if Thibs was brought back. He is being mentioned as a head coaching canidate so he may not be available. I don't think he and D'Antoni would do well together because their focus on what is important is very different but I would love to see him brought in.

D'Antoni doesnt like being given suggestions on how his offense should be run. Hopefully we give D'Antoni permission to talk to other teams(Chicago). We then get a coach better suited to what we are trying to accomplish.

I'd be fine with both guys. Young defensive-minded coach, young GM that amassed a lot of young talent in Golden State. Bring 'em in...

Absolutely, such as Chandler to Minny for rights to Rubio.

If we're a poor defensive team b/c we have a team with players that don't play defense, and never did for that matter, you'll be calling for TTs head. Mark my words.

I assume we'd acquire Thibidoue then get players who will at least attempt to play defense.

When we hired Larry Brown, did we get players who could play defense and guys who could play smart and high % offense?

When we got D'Antoni, did we get guys who could make quick decisions, shoot consistently, and play smart ball?

Just saying it's yet to happen.
