I'll be shaking my head if this happens

Zach Randolph might not know the exact details of the three-year, $57 million extension Pau Gasol signed last December that runs through the 2013-14 season. But Randolph does believe he's worthy of getting a similar extension.

"Definitely,'' Randolph said.

Randolph said in an interview with FanHouse before Monday's game at Denver he wants to sign an extension this summer, and has told Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley his desire to remain with the Grizzlies beyond when his contract expires in 2011.

"Me and Pau Gasol got signed to the same deal when he was in Memphis and I was in Portland,'' said Randolph, whose contract actually is slightly less, with Randolph making $16 million this season and $17.33 million next season and the Lakers star earning $16.45 million and $17.82 million in those seasons. "We got the same contract, and it got extended. ... I hope (to get the extension done this summer). I'd definitely like to get it done.

"I like it here,'' Randolph said of Memphis. "I told the owner I want to be here. If they're going to let me be open and be a free agent or they're going to extend me or lock me in, I'd rather take a lock in.''

"Quite frankly, Zach obviously has been a player that really has made the difference for us this year,'' Michael Heisley said by phone. "Obviously, we want to keep him through the rest of his career. We've got some things with the players that we have to sign, like Rudy Gay and some other players, but hopefully we can work on an extension (with Randolph). I am going to talk to him.''

Good for Memphis that a decent player wants to play there.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Dude is putting up big numbers but he does not put people in the stands nor did he lead them into the playoffs which enhances revenue. Need more revenue, the more better.

Its great when these guys play for contracts. If they have a malcontent history they behave better and actually play up to their potential. Problem is they have no history of consistancy.

ZDumb is a hell of a player and maybe be maturing as his career goes on.

Im sure he wants an extension. IM sure he wants Pau money. He is not Pau. Statistics are a funny thing.

Pau was the best player on the team and went to the playoffs 3 years with Memphis. 3 years.

ZDumb as not the best player participated in the playoffs 2 years.

As the best Statistical player on his team the last SEVEN seasons he has have not played in a single playoff game.

Z-bo is douchebag on the court.

Nobody said Pau is a max player, but Zdumb wants another taste.

MY point?

I guess if Heisley thought Pau was over priced, why would he give similar big money to a doucebag stat whore who has a history not condusive to winning?

Pau Gasol's resume in FIBA play is formidable, 2009 Eurobasket gold to his mantle top, to go along with his 2006 World Championship gold, 2008 Olympic silver, and 2003/2007 Eurobasket silver medals.

Since 2003, Pau has led Spain to three Eurobasket finals, one World Championship, and one Olympic final in six summers of competition (he missed the 2005 Euro due to injury). Every summer Pau has participated in FIBA competition, he has been selected for first team All-Tournament honors. It's no surprise that the rise of the Spanish national team has coincided with the emergence of Pau Gasol as one of the top players in the world.

Neither Kobe, Jordan, Shaq, Magic, Bird, etc ever one a title being the ONLY all star talent in his team. Nobody does.

Kobe needed Pau also.
