Frank is not going to get enough time to develop on the Knicks. I was sought of convinced he had no trade value - but most posters thing he does. If so trade him. He won't help this team.

He may or may not turn out to be a good player - I don't know - how could know - he's only played 455 minutes.

I'm not sure if Miles is the best guy to trade him for - but I think he would have a better chance of helping the team. He's been labelled an under achiever but keep in mind Frank Williams was a junior in college when he was the same age as Miles is now.

Frank was starting before starbury came oldfan, now starbury gets the minutes at pg but houston needs a reast and anderson backs up KVH. MARBURY AND FRANK IN THE BACKCOURT IS SOMETHING I DREAM OF SEEING, THAT COMBO WOULD DESTROY OPPOSING TEAMS, Frank loves to run Marbury loves to shoot, GET THE PICTURE.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Playa - maybe. But I'll be very surprised if the scenerio gets played out. I know you don't like Penny - but I think he's going to get playing time as is Anderson. I'd rather have Williams as the backup point guard then Moochie but I'm not even sure that will happen.

In my view Williams is still an unproven talent - but even if you think he's already proven himself I don't think it matters - he won't help because he won't get PT.

Well didn't Frank play in the same backcourt with Chollie Ward ? Ward was the shooter but on defense ward played defense against opposing pg and Frank guarded the oppossing sg. The reason Chaney did that was to create easier shots and good ball movement.

Yes but that was before they got a backup two. I don't think the Knicks will play Williams as a two for any significant amount of time.

They played moochie in backcourt with steph so you were wrong my friend. Why do you still think Williams will play the 2? He is the one who knows the offense and would play pg in game just like moochie did.

Why was I wrong?? I said they wouldn't play Frank. Plus - I don't think the two point guard idea is playing out all the well so far I won't be upset if I they try Frank with Marbury. I just think the Knicks are trying to work too many players for FW to get serious time.

I am also not nearly as comfortable with FW as you are. 4 games don't prove much. I think the Jury is still out.

They have no choice but to trade him. They desparately need a post up player, and Williams is one of the few available assets to get one.

Did anyone notice how Willis Reed recently compared Marbury to Clyde and how not too long ago Isiah called Frank Clyde-like? Compliments lose their impact if their repeated to someone else. No wonder Dyess was glad to leave NY, sports reporting is the equivalent to tabloids. The New York Knicks is turning into a male-soap opera!

I don't think Willis compared Clyde and Stephon's skill set. I think he said that he is the best PG since Clyde. Isiah was asked if FWill reminded him of himself, Isiah responded that FWill plays more like Clyde.

He said best pure PG--- what the heck is a pure PG?! A guy who averages 20ppg / 10apg?

I thought Clyde was a PG who played like a combo guard, especially when paired with Monroe (also a combo-type guard)-- his duty was to move the ball. He gave the team what it needed.

This is probably what IT meant-- Frank Williams gets the team running smoothly, but his impact isn't necessarily in his numbers. He didn't average an incredibly high number of assists, partially because the team was moving the ball well, making the pass to the guy who eventually got the assist.

In a way, Marbury / Moochie are from the Howard Eisley school of basketball--- dribble forever...

Anyway...
I was under the impression that John Stockton was the defacto prototypical PG, and I don't know if he ever averaged much more than 15ppg. The prototypical PG duties are to lead the team and get everyone involved.

A great point guard makes great decisions with the ball. Depending on his own and his teammates' skills, the point of the game, how everyone's doing on the given night, etc., that may mean taking a lot of shots or taking none at all.

IMO a great point guard can score 20 a game, as long as he takes his shots in the flow of the offense, gets his teammates the ball at the right time and place when he's not shooting, and, most of all, doesn't take bad shots. Nothing more discouraging than playing w/ a guy who dribbles it up only to hoist ill-advised shots. As a teammate, you get lazy and discouraged, stop making cuts, when playing w/ someone like that. But if you're taking good shots as the point, doesn't matter if you take a lot of them.
