PG: CJ Watson for 3mm per, Toney Douglas, Chris Duhon
SG: Lebron James MAX DEAL(tho in truth, we know he plays any combination of PG, SG, SF, PF), Bill Walker, JP Prince (2nd rd draft pick)
SF: Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler
PF: David Lee for 9mm per, Wayne Chism (2nd rd draft pick, coincidentall, also from Tennessee)
C: Marcus Camby for 5mm per (he is 36 and may take less for playing in NY, with LBJ etc.), Earl Barron, Eddy Curry (mid season trade bait)

Acquire a late 2nd rounder & draft D'shaun Butler and let him sit and rehab for a year.

I also like TRevor Booker from Clemson as a Leon Powe clone.

I don't want Dudu here even as the 3rd string PG.

Purple - You present a well thought out plan here but I just don't think Lebron will come unless we agree to bring in another star FA with him right away, whether it's Bosh, Amar'e or Joe Johnson (my preference of those 3 in order -- I don't really want to throw big money at JJ but if it meant LeBron, you do it and don't ask any questions). I could be wrong but for some reason I don't think David Lee will be enough for 'Bron but then again he's pretty intelligent, so maybe he would be - my gut just tells me Lee alone won't be enough to entice the King to come here. Because we can't offer that 6th year, it'll take a very creative plan to entice this guy to come (which would consist primarily of 2 things: (1) most of the big endorsement opportunities spelled out for him up front & in advance if that's even possible & most importantly (2) another star level FA coming aboard with him at the same time to help alleviate the burden. That's something he doesn't have right now). Hey it's starphucking but like Nalod just mentioned on another thread, it's starphucking the right way -- LeBron's the best player out there just entering his prime (maybe not even in his complete prime yet) and even though it's fairly close, Chris Bosh is better and younger than David Lee point blank -- these ARE NOT Isiah Thomas-type moves here - we couldn't possibly go wrong with getting both no matter how much money it'll cost (not to diminish Cleveland's roster because they have a few good support players in place but LeBron pretty much all by himself makes Cleveland into a title contender -- substitute Dwayne Wade for LeBron and I betcha the Cavs aren't as good)...I just have a funny feeling it'll take 1 to get the other - and that's fine because we'll be in the unique position to offer that. Even if it took buying out Curry at 20 cents on the dollar to clear another $2+ million for the extra wiggle room, you do it w/o hesitation... Again, I'm fully prepared to starphuck the right way...All I ask is that Donnie goes hard after the plan A and that these guys give a quick decision..If it doesn't work out, then you move ahead with plan b, c, d... where now you're talking about getting one of the remaining top FAs after LeBron (Lee then becomes more important to me over Amar'e, definitely over JJ and even Bosh who I don't think will give up that 6th year to come here w/o LeBron (if I can't throw money at the best, I might then look to be a little more fiscally responsible. I see Amar'e & JJ as guys who would be good fits WITH LeBron, not without him). Whether we then fail or succeed in landing at least 1 2nd tier guy, only then will I be willing to entertain the idea of bringing in guys like Watson, Camby, etc.. There just won't be enough room for these guys if we succeeded with the plan A and I'm perfectly OK with it -- there's enough in place already, then there's the draft and a few other players we can hopefully find on the cheap along the way. That will be a good team with a rock solid foundation of 2 stars in place (one being arguably the best player in the sport) and a team that'll have room to add some more the following year when the bulk of Eddy Curry's contract comes off the books...With all this cap room and the opportunity to add 2 top FAs we're in a rather unique situation..Starphuck the **** outta this thing first and see what happens. It's the clear-cut plan A. I understand your plan is more of a contingency plan and it's a good one but I'm still full steam ahead with plan A in my mind until we get turned down...As far as the draft, I do like the 4 guys you mentioned but I have my sights set on some other players so we'll see what happens with that as well...

And likewise Earl, I don't even know if Bosh will come w/o LeBron. The whole thing boils down to this important luxury for the Knicks -- we'll be able to sit down with the two top guys & present the idea of bringing both in TOGETHER (and I don't factor in Wade in any of this really - he's great & you do it if LeBron requested him specifically, but to me LeBron/Bosh probably followed by LeBron/Amar'e are the two best fits) and not to play in Memphis or Toronto but in the best city in the world, NYC.. I think that's a HUGE selling point for us, so I'll remain optimistic until I'm forced to switch gears...

My ideal roster obviously includes LBJ or Wade (and a second fiddle). If not, I want to go after a second tier name and preserve as much flexibility as possible while getting two competent PGs (injury insurance), a JJ Reddick/Kyle Korver/Mike Miller type, and a C like Marcus Camby

Finestrg - if Donnie Walsh somehow, someway manages to bring both Bosh and Lebron, he is inducted into the NBA Hall Of Fame on the spot. Walsh smiles for the cameras during the historic press conference, which is broadcast live on ESPN, then retires the day after the signing ceremony. He hires Chris Mullin... then kicks back watching Knicks on satellite from his beach house.

i doubt you're getting David Lee at $9M or Camby at $5M per this summer... you're going to have to throw more money at those guys to sign either... & Lebron coming to play with that roster is a stretch as well IMO

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Assuming we don't get LeBron or Wade here is my Knick roster if I was the GM.

Transactions:
1. Sign Marcus Camby to a 1 year deal worth 5M.
2. Resign DLee to a 5 year 50M contract.
3. Resign Barron to a 3 year league vet min
4. Resign Sergio to a 3 year 7.5 million contract.
5. Pick up Giddens team option.
6. Pick up Walker team option.
7. Sign Carlos Arroyo for a 1 year vet min.

Hold on to Curry's contract for summer of 2011.

Trade The Mayor to Minny for rights to Rubio

Draft
Select nothing but 6'10" PF/C types that can run for the 2 2nd round draft picks.

FA Pickups
Sign Jeremy Lin

Lineup
C - Camby
PF - DLee
SF - Gallo
SG - Walker
PG - TD

Bench - Sergio, Arroyo, Barron, Giddens, 6'10"+ PF/C, 6'10"+ PF/C

Then wait for Carmelo next year.

I don't think we are getting LBJ. But I like the fact that a 7 footer was able to contribute like that last night. I know it's one game--but it shows what the team can do moving Lee to PF and bringing in a true 5. I like the thought of pairing up the 6-8 23 year old Wilson Chandler and the 6-8 24 year old Shaun Livingston and going across the frontline 7 feet 6-9 6-11--put that in a zone wrap it up and that is tough to shoot over.

RIP Crushalot😞
