Have you noticed that every successful coach has either a dominant player or system or both. From Auerbach to Holzman to Riley to Jackson to Van Gundy(yes Playa Van Gundy has been successful from day 1)they have won with a system. What is the Chaney system? I am not sure he knows

I know his system used to be how to get an extension with a losing record. He's a master at that.

Now we have someone calling shots who's not gonna play that. With all the excuses that fool Chaney has come up with, he, for the most part, has NONE now. IMO He'll be outta here between MLK Day and the end of the month. Thank God.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Chaney doesn't have a system. I'm sure of it. No way does a head coach with a clue keep all his best players on the bench till 4 mins left in the game. NO WAY!

I agree Chaney has no system. But last night Marbury was sick - which is why his minutes were limited. Hopefully, Chaney will get better because I think the season is lost if we change coaches at this point. It's just too many changes to manage at one time.

Silver One minor correction-a good head coach does keep a hot second unit on the floor until their run peters out but then makes a switch fast.

Yes of course. But the second Unit was doing terrible. Not only could they no cut into the lead, they could'nt even keep the lead from extending. went from 11 to 16 points before the starters came in and made it 9 points.

Agreed-that was the point-the second unit did nothing

The most annoying thing (someone else said this to me too) was watching OTHELLA HARRINGTON GET SO MANY FREAKING MINUTES!!

He might not be happy what Deke was doing but there is no way he can be satisfied with was Othella was doing in there! The guy was lost! Looked like he hadn't seen a basketball in months!

A quote from Mike Lupica

"Knick fans still have a right to wonder if Chaney will ever be the coach to get them out of this hole."

Beat reporters can't bash ... their meal ticket is access to players and coaches, and that access dries up pretty fast once their seen as the enemy. Columnists, on the other hand, can say whatever the hell they please. No coincidence that Lupica and Vescey are so outspoken.

Anyway, think this is a great thread. I've been lukewarm to Chaney, certainly not as against him as many in this forum, but for some reason it never clicked in my head that he has no system. It's true, it's obvious, and it's very damning. That, plus his questionable substitutions and his penchant for looking for excuses instead of accepting accountability, make him a big liability. I'm joining the chorus. Fire Chaney!

I have always been against Chaney. I don't know what he is doing. I am calling for him being fired but if he doesn't get fired and we start winning and get to .500 I'll be happy. I dont have a problem with coaches systems and rotations if they are winning but if they start losing I get angry.

I didn't understand why he didn't give Frank Williams more mins over Eisley and Ward and I dont understand why he benches Deke so much so often. He is the coach and he knows better but he should be able to explain it. He said "Deke couldn't guard anyone on the court there, go check the tape" after the Milwaukee game! He was making a difference and doing well and what coach says that about their own player?

He said Frank was being inconsistent but so were Eisley and Ward and showed no signs of improvement! Atleast Frank would've improved and he did. Zeke came in and basically forced Chaney to start Fwill or else it seems as though Chaney would've kept going with Eisley. He cannot explain his decisions well. He benched Ward in the begining of the season because EISLEY IS NOT THAT EFFECTIVE WHEN HE COMES OFF THE BENCH! Thats what he said. Ward was totally ineffective and Eisley was just as bad as he was as a backup. I do hope the knicks start winning though. Chaney or no Chaney, the knicks are my team and I will root for them.
