Anyone know what's up with this guy? Is he still technically on the roster (he's not listed on the team's web site but his name's still on the Knicks hoopshype roster)? If he is, when is the league supposed to make a decision on him? I was under the assumption that one should've been made by now. Now that the trading deadline has passed and they chose not to move him, I want the league to make a decision already. We currently have one roster spot open when Brian Cardinal was waived. I want two. And then, before the Knicks even think about anything else -- who to take with those two 2nd rounders, free agency, next year, etc., I want them to bring up two of the best D-League players they can find and play them for the rest of the year. Who knows, maybe we finally get lucky and find a player or two that may actually be worth something to us - a player or two that may stick. Everything in the world to gain, nothing at all to lose.

- Instead of targeting a PG like Sherron Collins or Greivis Vasquez in the draft (two guys I do like btw) or going after a FA PG like a CJ Watson or Marcus Williams maybe we bring up a Curtis Jerrells and give him a look.

- Instead of drafting a shooter like Lazar Hayward or targeting a bargain FA 2-guard like an Antoine Wright, call up Mike Gansey right now and give him a look.

- Instead of drafting a center in the draft like Art Parakhouski, Vandy's AJ Olgivy or Jerome Jordan, call up Dwayne Jones and see if he can help.

- Instead of going after a PF in the draft like Trevor Booker, Jarvis Varnado or Wayne Chism, offer a contract to Alexander Johnson for the rest of the year and see if he fits.

With only a handful of games remaining, now's the time to call up a few D-League guys and see if we can plug holes that way before we choose to throw any kind of money at the problem, however small amount, or commit to players in the draft. Again, no skin off our back -- if they don't work out, no harm, no foul. We then go about taking the next steps. Before that, I really think this organization needs to do their due diligence and sign some top NBDL players first for the rest of the year. Golden State continually finds good players down on the D-League, why can't we?

He's an untradeable commodity that will expire at years' end and come off the roster. League already made a decision: Insurance can pay 80% of his contract - AND - as a retired player he doesn't count as a luxury taxable contract.

Dolan saved big bucks.

Had to only pay 20% of Mobleys salary (about 8M saved) - and he's NOT a lux taxable player (so there's another 9.5M saved)

Ahh, OK. I understand he still counts toward the cap, but I thought a decision was supposed to be made on whether or not we could fill his roster spot with another player, like an injury exception or something. It's a shame if we can't...
