I've been really impressed with what Bogut's done this year. His numbers are solid at 16 and 10 and the Bucks are absolutely doing work right now and look really strong. I think Bogut's defense is leaps and bounds better than Lee. Lee has more physical attributes quickness and athleticism. Of course teams record I had hoped that the Knicks would be where the Bucks are now.

What's everyone thoughts?

I have not watched enough Bucks games to say, but I know Bogut is having his best season. His problem has generally been his health. If he can stay healthy for all 82 games, I think most would consider him a second tier center. Lee probably has had a better season statistically, but the Bucks are in the playoffs, so that says something.

If Bogut could stay healthy he is a top 10 player in this league. I still thought he was one of the best prospects I have ever seen in college and was very surprised when he was not a star from day 1 but he also hasnt been able to stay healthy. When he is--hes very tough to deal with.

His trajectory makes sense. He is not blessed with lateral quickness. It was the same thing in college. He needed to learn the speed of the game and adjust. He didn't burst onto the college scene... he just improved every year.

I would never, ever, ever put him in as a top 10 players in the league. He is one of the best centers though.

I guess it's about even on their respective improvements but it's not fair to compare them. If you listen to Lee's coach one guy is having a great year and deserved all-star consideration while the other guy is the reincarnation of Wilt Chamberlain so it's impossible for anyone to stop him.

on a side note, there is no reason why the knicks should not be performing like the bucks right now. compare the rosters...if the bucks are playing this way and winning games, there is no excuse for the knicks to be performing in a similar manner.

I think that's the more troubling aspect of this whole thing. The Bucks are not playing with a big name player and they've had a ton of injuries yet here they are in March playing great basketball. I feel that the Knicks should have been playoff bound by this season. I don't agree with this philosphy of "all or nothing" where you either need to be an elite team or rebuilding with a crappy record.

Andrew Bogut is more of a complete player (David Lee is the worst defensive PF in the league).

If Milwaukee offered to swap Bogut for Lee, we would be stupid not to make that trade.

The difference is their coach preaches defense. I honestly believe if Scott Skiles was our coach we would be the 5th seed in the East right now.

if you play hard defense every night, you can overachieve in the regular season b/c teams don't like it when you play them tough on a night to night basis. and you can win with subpar talent. (and by win, i mean make the playoffs).

it's next to impossible to overachieve with an offensive mindset unless you have big time efficient scorers b/c you just can't score at a high clip every single night.

for the postseason, you need a team that can play defense and has 1 or 2 players that can score at a high level. if you play defense, a team can't counter coach for that in a 7 game series. and if you have 2 big time scorers, their individual play can win those close playoff games.

so you see a team like the bucks and the bobcats go on these good winning runs and probably make the postseason b/c they focus on defense and have enough scoring to win in the regular season. and why d'antoni's offensive minded knicks team can't crack 30 wins. the cats and bucks are not good enough to advance tho b/c they don't have that 1 or 2 big time scorers to win close playoff games.

but it also makes a team like the bobcats and bucks dangerous b/c they need to acquire a scorer or two, which can be found in the league. but a team like the knicks needs to make wholesale changes b/c they need to find 3-4 big time scorers to succeed playing that style.

how can you say that? The Knicks have middle guys. Lots of forwards They lack the two most important (IMO) things to win basketball games. They cant guard the paint, and they dont have a playmaker. Are they talented? Yes. As talented as the Bucks? Not quite. But the Knicks have to work too hard to get off good shots. Jennings isnt a great but he gets a lot of easy shots for his teammates. Bogut may not be a franchise player for where he was drafted but he challenges shots and guards the paint very well. If you do those two things every night your going to compete every night.

Knicks get no easy buckets and are too small to stop teams from shooting 55% once they get the ball in the paint.

The issue is how we are constructed (and we arent very good duh)

Kind of reminds me of the Houston, Spree, Kurt, Harrington, Eisley team. They won 37 games. Had some good players and played hard every night. End of the day though nobody was getting them easy shots and Kurt, Spoon and Harrington were too short to guards the paint for 48 minutes.

We have some good players, but we our positions of need right now kill us. Hell... if you replaced Harrington with Dalembert and Duhon with Andre Miller we would probably win 45 games or so. Nothing to go streaking over but you get the idea.

So many hijack attempts.

ANd nobody used the "J" word either. (Jennings)

Bucks have some nice talent and the east is still kind of week. With the exception of the Orlando and Cavs anyone else can upset the Celts or the Hawks in the quarters. Bucks making the semi-finals is doable.

Skiles has always been a good coach but like most coaches you need the players. He has a nice young squad and little pressure. Playoffs are a nice bonus.

Skiles has always been under rated as a coach and a player.

Its also possible that on this very knick team his hot head lack of patience thing could have really blown up in his face. For got sakes, we talking Eddy Curry here and a career backup Duhan. Skiles did not like either very much!

THe long of it was we should have let Larry run thru the franchise and scortched it as it should have been.

Skiles has Ridenhour who is a very good point and Understudy Jennings who brings the energy to work with. WE have "Happy hour" Chris and "Special" Nate running the point.

Are guys really trying to say Milwaukee has talent now?

The key to this season has been Jennings. Bogut is good but the guy disappears at times when facing other bigs. The other issue is the guy has no jumper. Jennings is the engine that runs that team. When you have a talented PG who can make plays and get guys good looks then you can get by with solid role players.

Boute, Delfino, and Salmons are solid role players who can defend. Delfino and Salmons can also supply some offense.

Michael Redd is better than Salmons and Richard Jefferson was better than Delfino. Playing guys like Ridnour and Mo Williams at PG is not good unless you have play makers at other positions and this has already been proven.

no man... they had Mo Williams in the past. The difference is Bogut, who might be healthy for the first time and he's playing like it. Jennings has been ok. He started really strong but since that Bogut has been carrying that team bigtime. Jennings #s have tailed waaaay off and his shooting %s are dreadful. He hit the rookie wall bigtime

Statements like that just show you havent seen many Bucks games.

All Boguts stats are pretty much the same except for his points. 2 years ago he averaged 14 and 10 and we know they weren't in the playoffs and they won 26 games that year. That same year they had Williams and Redd putting up numbers too.

Like I said the Jennings is the difference maker because he enables the team to get easier baskets which means less wear and tear on Bogut during the season.

Lee has been more impressive because he gets his stats regardless of who is guarding him. I understand his defense sucks but he has show he is offensively potent from all over the court.

Bogut is doing the same old thing he has always done.

The knicks dont have a dynamic, playmaking point guard like Jennings. Thats the biggest difference in the records.

Put Jennings on this team and we're definitely fighting for a playoff spot at minimum.

Bogut wins this question by leaps and bounds, because Lee doesnt play defense.

I have seen a fair about of their games. What I see in Bogut is a guy playing faster and more aggressively on both ends than I have ever seen before. Its just an observation. I'm assuming its because of his health.
