The Nets will break ground on their Brooklyn Arena on Thursday. Most people expect the Nets to become a more attractive destination upon their arrival in Brooklyn from New Jersey.

Former Nets guard Jason Kidd anticipates the arena delay as hurting the club in free agency.

"If the building was built it would help rival [the Knicks] in the sense of landing someone," Kidd said. "If you have to wait two or three years to play and stay in New Jersey, it might be a little tough to sign that first wave of guys: [Chris] Bosh or [Dwyane] Wade or LeBron [James]."

welll... there you have it. If Kidd says it it must be true. Scratch Nets off the list for any of the big FAs

From a revenue standpoint, the arena is too late.

But the Russian got money.

Newark is not too far!

well, since it won't be open for years, what clear thinking person would sign with Jersey in hopes that
a. They are still with Jersey when it opens
b. They don't suffer a career ending injury prior to its opening
or
c. they come to realize that hate playing for whoever is coach or GM

I said it before, why would LB or anyone else come there in hopes that everything will still be good once the arena does open.

Just because ground is broken won't mean there won't be other delays. Via lawsuits or otherwise.

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

The Nets dont necessarily need the big 3 to improve.

Im sure they'd be happy with Gay, Lee, and their pick.

I don't understand the quote. If the Nets had built their arena it would help us sign someone?

A great rivalry would juice up the exposure of both teams and make them marketable. You think a conferance final with them both would not make sense?

Nets need more revenue which they will get from the new Barklay's center which can't hurt either.

Well actually I just re-read it and it makes more sense than that. The quote means that the Nets arena would help rival the Knicks in signing someone, aka it would give the Nets an equal opportunity as us to sign someone. But without it, they can't compete with us.

As the Nets prepare to break ground on construction of the Brooklyn arena that will be the team's new home, citizens opposed to the project are protesting at the site.

The protesters held a mock funeral "to bury the soul of Brooklyn."

The arena is scheduled to open sometime in 2012.

It's not going to be a perfectly smooth ride for Ratner's "vision". There remains much organized opposition.

Um, why exactly do we care what Kidd thinks?

Knick fans need anything. And I mean ANYTHING that resembles a slice of good news and promotes something optimistic in the offseason. Its gettin ugly around here.

I think we should be overly negative, give up on the summer before it even comes and long for the days of Zach, Craw and even Darko.

No need for ridiculous counter-opposites --- but there is a lot of room for concern with this regime.

I dont like them, but its at the point where its show and prove. They deliver in the offseason and we start winning next year. All good. If not, then the fire Donnie and El Diva websites are goin up.

I think they will do something just like that. They also have a second first round pick so they could be active in sign and trade situations.

Remember Kidd was quoted as saying Marbury and Francis back court could work together? Why are we listening to anything Fists Of Fury has to say?

Why would Kidd co-sign New Jersey? He left on very salty terms.

Amar'e and Lee said New Jersey is attractive as did Wade who said they will "Get Some Love". Thus far the scoreboard says 3-1

To be fair, it might have worked had Francis' knee not gone south. LOL at our luck this past decade.
