Considering that was the last time the knicks signed to quality FA, it got me thinking that even though LJ wasn't exactly grandmama and allan was essentially just coming in to his own and we already had a frachise player in EWING, we still never came close to a championship. 99 was a lockout year, so that run to the finals will always be suspect in my book, I mean only 5 games seperated the 1st and 8th seed.
The miami fight was crazy, and probably a lagit shot at a ring, but it didn't happen because of mental lapse's

Since WADE, BOSH,and LB are the only 3 real franchise players, would 2 quality FA make much of a difference.

LJ was trade for Mason. I think JJ and Allan Houston are about on a par. Houston was a hell of a good player and its a shame much of his legacy is attached to that contract. When you watch those old games you wish we had a player as good as Houston.

I can give you similarities with Houston and JJ, although Houston was a pure shooter and JJ is more of a scorer. He also doesn't have the penchant for the final shot. Boozer will never have the heart and demeanor of Larry Johnson. As a matter of fact, he could be considered the anti-Johnson.

In a sense that we did not get the bang for the buck that we should have yes.

LJ and H20 over players with more impact, and more importantly over a real PG, (we got Childs, another mistake) is why Ewing has no rings.

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Boozer is a beast, he's just not a sexy FA. Plus with JJ3 N Boozer, you have a much shorter window, cuz they're creeping close to the final years of their careers. Both will be 29 next season. Not old, but not young either, but the good thing about both guys is that they both have a ground game. Neither is a high flyer or reckless abandon type player so they will maintain a similar level of play well into their 30's. Problem I see is that they aren't fastbreak guys, they're halfcourt guys.

Yeah, like Houston with the bad knee and LJ with the bad back.

Houstons knees gave out when the team got to heavy for his back, then to justify his contract he continued to play through it, causing more damage. LJ stop taking whatever they were giving him when he found out that it led ZO to having kidney failures. Both of those guys careers were cut short for health reason obvious.

But the point i was trying to make is that would two stars be good enough to get us a trip to the ECF

I know what you meant. I'm trying to say that signing them would be a disappointment. Like the equivalent to LJ's bad back and Houston's gimpy knee.

Boozer is beast down low, I'm amazed at how much he gets done down low at 6'7" in height. I can definitely see the LJ comparisons in terms of their game and the amount of mileage that they've had at similar points in their careers. My only concern with Boozer is that his explosiveness can go at any moment with all the injuries. It's not that big a deal if you're 6'11" lime Tim Duncan, but it aint pretty when you're 6'7". I'm sure you all remember Clarence Witherspoon.

Isn't Boozer 6'9"?

Too bad David Lee isn't Charles Oakley and Danilo Gallinari is not John Starks.
